Ed Oliver is one of the most renowned NFL players. Currently, he is in the spotlight due to developments in his personal life. According to reports, Ed recently lost his son, Ed Oliver III. What makes the news even more tragic is that Ed was only two years old at the time of his death.

Ed and his family had initially tried to keep things under wraps, but the unfortunate news came to the forefront when Bills GM Brandon Beane offered his condolences to the football player. Amid this, if you are curious about Ed Oliver’s family, here's what we know. 

All about Ed Oliver's family 

Not much is publicly known about Ed Oliver's family or his romantic relationships. However, reports claim that he is currently unmarried. While we know that Ed is the father of two children- his late son, Ed Oliver III, and a daughter- the NFL star has never revealed the identities of his kids' mothers.

Apart from his kids, Ed’s family consists of his parents: his mother, Dana Oliver, and his father, Ed Oliver Sr. Ed Sr. is a construction worker. He was previously a running back at Northwestern State, an FCS school in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

The Buffalo Bills star had credited his father for introducing him to horses and passing his characteristics to him. In his words, “He introduced horses into my life. He's a hard worker, a blue-collar guy. So that just kind of rubbed off on me.”

It is believed that they also played a significant role in his career, including his time in the NFL and when he was still with the Cougars. Reports also say Ed has an older brother, Marcus Oliver, who played for the Houston Cougars like him. Later in his career, Marcus went on to become a high school football coach.

What happened to Ed Oliver’s 2-year-old son? 

The Buffalo Bills are preparing for their game against the Cleveland Browns. Despite this, Ed Oliver will not be part of the match. He has already missed several practice sessions recently, and while the Bills suggested that he is out because of an injury, this seems to be far from the truth. Reports online claim that Ed is going through one of the worst phases of his life after losing his 2-year-old son in June 2026.

Unverified reports claim that Ed’s son passed away in a drowning incident in Oliver Huffman’s home in Texas. As of now, neither Ed nor the members of his family have released a statement to confirm the news of the alleged tragedy. However, a source close to the NFL star said that Ed is indeed mourning the death of his son. They said: 

“Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver and his family have been mourning the tragic loss of his son, and he is asking for privacy and prayers at this very difficult time.”

As speculations about the death of Ed’s son continued to spread on social media, some videos began circulating that allegedly showed the athlete speaking to officers after the incident. Some rumors also claimed that Ed was present at the address when the tragic incident took place. 

Bills General Manager Brandon Beane’s statement confirmed that Ed is mourning the death of his son. He said:

“On behalf of the entire Buffalo Bills organization, we want to publicly express our condolences to Ed Oliver and his family on the devastating loss of his son. It's an unthinkable tragedy for any parent. We will continue to support Ed and his family as we all grieve this tragic loss.”
