Walt Disney announced Josh D’Amaro as the company's new Chief Executive Officer. He will replace current CEO Bob Iger, starting March 18, 2026. D’Amara was elected unanimously and will succeed longtime Disney CEO, Iger. The latest announcement has sparked interest among Josh D’Amaro’s family. It is to be noted that there is no public information on Josh D'Amaro’s family. Corporate profiles published by Disney and other reliable outlets have no specific details about the 54-year-old’s family or children. Though some reports have claimed that D'Amaro is married and has twins, those details remain unverified. However, as per The New York Times, D’Amaro is married to his high-school sweetheart, Susan, and the couple lives in Orange County, California.
D’Amaro grew up in Massachusetts and had been a die-hard Disney fan since childhood. He remembers taking a Walt Disney World ride along with his siblings when they were young. He studied art at Skidmore College in New York and wished to become a sculptor. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from Georgetown University.
D’Amaro has been a key player in Disney since 1998 and began his career at the Disneyland Resort. He worked in sales, travel trade marketing and business planning. He then served as the chief financial officer of Disney Consumer Products Global Licensing and later became Vice President of Disney’s Animal Kingdom from 2013 to 2014.
After some time, D’Amaro served as senior vice president of resort and transportation operations and was promoted to chief commercial officer. Not just that, he was named President of the Disneyland Resort in 2018.
D’Amaro was appointed chairman of Disney Experiences, and under his leadership, Disney expanded its franchises with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Avengers Campus, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and World of Frozen. His strategies have paid off significantly, marking Disney’s ambitious slate of projects, including a Monsters, Inc.-themed land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort and a new Avatar destination at Disneyland Resort.
In an official statement, Disney confirmed Josh D’Amaro’s appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company. Heaping praises on D’Amaro, Bob Iger said:
“Josh D’Amaro is an exceptional leader and the right person to become our next CEO. He has an instinctive appreciation of the Disney brand, and a deep understanding of what resonates with our audiences, paired with the rigor and attention to detail required to deliver some of our most ambitious projects."
D’Amaro is set to officially take the reins in March 2026. According to multiple reports, D’Amaro’s estimated pay package, including bonuses, comes to roughly USD 38 million. In a statement, D’Amaro expressed his gratitude towards the company and said:
“I am immensely grateful to the Board for entrusting me with leading a company that means so much to me and millions around the world. Disney’s strength has always come from our people and the creative excellence that defines our stories and experiences. There is no limit to what Disney can achieve."
