After swooning fans with their heartwarming love, Love After Lockup stars Brittany and Marcelino Santiago's marriage has officially ended. The move comes after nearly 8 years of their togetherness. It started when Marcelino recently filed for divorce in court. In turn, it has brought a formal closure to a relationship that was already struggling for years. Meanwhile, fans were surprised to see that Brittany is just focusing on her family and everyday life amid the legal process. 

When did Marcelino file for divorce?

According to the latest court documents, Marcelino Saturday filed for divorce in June 2026. He cited that their "incomparable" as the reason for ending their marriage. In fact, the filing comes after Marcelino and Brittany.

The filing comes after the couple had reportedly been living separately for some time. Documents reveal that Brittany is not pregnant. But it confirms that they share two children: a daughter, Zoila, born in 2018, and a son, Marciano, born in 2020. 

Meanwhile, Marcelino has requested the joint legal and physical custody of both. In fact, court documents also show that neither party wants child support or spousal support. It suggests that the separation is moving ahead without any financial issues. 

The documents clarify that the couple has no community property or debts to divide. However, some reports suggest that they have been working to sell a shared property in Florida. However, Brittany has not yet filed a legal response to the divorce petition.

Marcelino and Brittany's love story began behind the prison walls 

Britany and Marcelino's relationship became one of the biggest success stories from Love After Lockup. For those unaware, the couple had first connected through a prison pen-pal program while Brittany was still serving her time on charges such as conspiracy to commit robbery, attempted murder, battery and kidnapping. 

After a few months of exchanging letters and calls, Marcelino welcomed Brittany upon her release from prison in 2018. In fact, the couple had an emotional reunion that was seen on the reality show. Later, they got married on December 27, 2018. Eventually, Marcelino helped Brittany rebuild their life after prison, reunited with her oldest son and worked towards maintaining sobriety.

However, things soon went downhill in 2022. Some episodes of Life After Lockup showed the trust issues couples face after their relationships. It started after a threesome that included Brittany's former girlfriend. Later, Brittany accused Marcelino of continuing to communicate with other women. It was due to repeated arguments and eventually their separation. 

Brittany is focused on moving forward

Although Marcelino has officially filed for divorce, Brittany is not letting the legal process affect her public life. Instead, shortly after the news of the filing went viral, she shared photos of herself celebrating the Fourth of July with her kids and other family members.

Meanwhile, fans also noticed that in the past few years, Brittany has mostly focused on rebuilding her personal and professional life. She spoke about her recovery journey, celebrated major sobriety milestones and made a career in real estate after stepping away from reality TV. She also explained that she prefers to keep most of her healing private and told her followers that enough of her personal life has already been shared publicly on TV.
