It has been nearly two months since legendary actor, Dharmendra passed away. His tragic and unexpected death sparked rift rumours within the family as they organised two separate prayer meets. Well, now his wife, Hema Malini opened up about Dharmendra's unexpected passing and also addressed the rumours of rift with the Deols.
Recently, the ‘dream girl’ of Bollywood, Hema Malini had an exclusive conversation with the Indian Express, during which she opened up about rift rumours with the Deols. For the unversed, ever since Dharmendra passed away, multiple fans speculated that everything was not good between Hema Malini and the Deols. Regarding the same, the actress shared that everything was perfectly fine and cordial within the two families. She was quoted as saying:
"It has always been very nice and cordial. Even today it is very nice. I don’t know why people think something is wrong with us. It is because people want gossip. Why should I answer them? Is it necessary for me to give an explanation? Why should I? It’s my life. My personal life, our personal life."
Hema Malini further expressed her sadness and frustration towards the media, who started such articles during the time of Dharmendra’s passing. She shared that both the families are very close to each other. Hema Malini also explained that she has nothing more to say to those people, who want to continue writing such stories. In her words:
"We are absolutely happy and very close to each other. That’s it. I don’t have anything more to say about this. I don’t know what stories people are making up. So sad that people use other’s grief to write a few articles. That is why I don’t answer (such speculation)."
During the same interview with the Indian Express, Hema Malini also spoke about Dharmendra’s sudden death, For the unversed, Dharmendra passed away a few days after being discharged from the hospital. Regarding the same, she shared that the Ikkis actor was alright once he came back from the hospital and the actress thought that Dharmendra would stay beside her for at least 1-2 years. She shared:
"He was back at home during the last few days. After going to the hospital, he was back home. Till that time, I am sure he was alright. I felt he would be around for one or two more years, definitely."
Rumours of an alleged rift between the two families began shortly after Dharmendra's death. While the nation was mourning the death of the legendary actor, multiple reports claimed things were not good between Hema Malini and the Deols as they hosted separate prayer meetings. Later, the rumours were intensified when fans noticed Hema Malini's absence in Haridwar, where Sunny and Bobby Deol had immersed the actor's ashes.
For those who don’t know, Dharmendra tragically passed away on November 24, 2025. The late actor was admitted to the hospital for a few days. Allegedly, he was even on the ventilator; however, the actor was discharged from the hospital just a few days before his death. After his death, his wife, Hema Malini had penned a long tribute for him on her social media, which left multiple fans emotional. It is worth mentioning that Hema Malini and Dharmendra had been together for 57 years.
