Hayden Panettiere's mother, Lesley Vogel, reacted to her daughter's tragic death and blamed a 'toxic individual' for the same.

Brian and his brother, Zach, were present with Hayden when she suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away. Her death remains under investigation, with an autopsy completed and toxicology testing still underway.
Hayden Panettiere’s mother, Lesley Vogel, spoke about the actress’ untimely death and blamed a ‘toxic individual’ for the same. Vogel also shed light on her own estrangement from Hayden and claimed it was not caused by lack of love but by external forces. Speaking about the same, she said:
“Although my daughter and I were estranged, it was not for lack of care or love. It was due to the involvement of a toxic individual who I believe led to her death.”
Although Vogel didn’t directly name Hayden’s on-again, off-again ex-boyfriend, Brian Hickerson. The state of Hayden’s abusive relationship with Brian was proof that Vogel was referring to Brian, who was also present with Hayden at the time of her death. Revealing how Hayden’s family tried to extricate him from her life, Vogel continued:
“Hayden was a beautiful and talented young woman who unfortunately became involved with the wrong person, and although her family tried to extricate him from her life, we were unable to be successful. It leads me to believe there are still questions surrounding what happened. And I think we are all looking for answers.”
Hayden and Brian began dating in 2018, and the actress was subjected to a series of domestic abuse incidents between 2019 and 2020. Brian was arrested in 2021 and was sentenced to 45 days in county jail. Apart from this, he was given four years of formal probation, 52 mandatory domestic violence classes, and a five-year restraining order.
A source close to Hayden Panettiere revealed that she secretly reconnected with Brian despite the restraining order and kept her friends in the dark about it for quite some time. A source close to the couple told Page Six that Brian was supposed to leave, but the two ended up on a flight to South Carolina, where he lives.
The source further claimed that Brian kept working on his way back into Hayden's life as 'a so-called friend'. But Hayden's close friends were not happy about her involvement with him, as they were certain he would drag her into another emotionally vulnerable situation.
A report by TMZ claimed that Hayden Panettiere was on a lot of medication and her boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, showed the police all of it. As per reports, there were nine different drugs that were found with her. Authorities have not announced any findings linking Hickerson or anyone else to Panettiere’s death.
Amid the whole fiasco pertaining to Hayden’s death, Brian responded through his attorney, Sloan Ellis. In a statement issued after Panettiere’s death, Ellis said:
“Hayden's death remains under investigation, and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed. As has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play. Out of respect for Hayden's loved ones and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment at this time.”
