Grammys 2026 came with three nominations for Indian composer, Charu Suri. She graced the red carpet in a beautiful ensemble by Shruti Sancheti, paying a special tribute to Indian weaves.
The Grammy 2026 Awards have successfully concluded, held on February 1, 2026 (ET). The event was one of the biggest nights in the musical world, honouring some of the industry's biggest names and brightest talents. And this year, our very own Charu Suri was also nominated for not one but three awards. While she didn't win any, Charu made sure to bring Indian heritage to the international gala, paying tribute to Indian weaves.
Charu Suri made India proud when she was nominated for not one but three awards at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. There's no denying that it's not every day an Indian-origin pianist, composer, and producer graces the Grammy red carpet. The musician was nominated for her own album, Shayan, in the Best Global Music Album category. She was also nominated as a co-producer on Sounds of Kumbha; and Best Children's Album (Children's, Comedy, Audio Book Narration & Storytelling category), as a performer/composer on Herstory by Flor Bromley. While Charu didn't take home an award, it was her ensemble that left everyone mesmerised.
The musician turned every head at the red carpet with her choice of attire. Charu Suri proudly embraced her Indian roots through its textiles in a stunning Shruti Sancheti creation. She graced the Grammy 2026 red carpet, turning heads in a statement Nehru jacket in soft white and beige hues, featuring intricate embroidery. The detailed work stood as a testament to India's art and craftsmanship.
The trench-style Nehru jacket was crafted by the extremely talented designer, Shruti Sancheti. It was created with pure Maheshwari silk sitting on a zari tissue base. The detailing included Chanderi-Banarasi jacquard extensions with Chanderi panels, which looked lively with various hand-embroidered techniques. However, that was not all. Considering how special the night was for Charu and India as a whole, Shruti also included intricate work in resham, aari dabka, and other artisanal details.
Nonetheless, what stood out the most was the screen-printed jacket lining. The beautiful work which made the Indian craftsmanship look sleek. The majestic jacket was paired with a panelled anarkali-style gown, once again paying homage to the enriched diversity of India, in the most elegant manner. Charu Suri completed the look with subtle uncut diamonds. Charu also carried a matching embroidered handbag and opted for a natural, almost no-makeup look.
Charu Suri's hair was subtly styled into a sleek bun with a middle parting. This unexpected collaboration turned out to be so beautiful that it left a small place in every Indian's heart. This beautiful ethnic co-ord set is perfect for the festive season and for all the momagers out there for their weekly get-togethers.
Charu Suri was not the only Indian to secure a nomination at the prestigious 2026 Grammy Awards. Other nominees at the Grammy Awards 2026 included Anoushka Shankar, Siddhant Bhatia, and Shakti. However, they also did not secure wins this year. Nonetheless, over the years, the nomination of Indian artists for global awards has become a testament to India's growing presence in the international music industry.
