It was in the '90s when the entire nation loved Neelam Kothari and Govinda's pairing. Movie buffs were sure that something was brewing between the two, beyond just sharing the screen space. They had worked with each other for a long time, and Govinda had even accepted his love for his longtime co-star, Neelam. However, soon their relationship ended, and they stopped working with each other.
After 30 years, the ex-flames, Neelam and Govinda, had reunited for Super Dancer - Chapter 4. Neelam had called it a sweet reunion. She had shared that it reminded her of the crazy fan following the two used to enjoy. However, not many know that Govinda used to feel shy performing romantic scenes with her.

Recently, Govinda appeared as the guest judge on the reality show, Dance Deewane. Nora Fatehi and choreographer, Ganesh Acharya have also accompanied him. During a segment, when Nora pointed out one of the show's contestants, Piyush's shyness, Govinda shared an anecdote of working with his ex-flame, Neelam.
Govinda shared that during the shoot of his first film, Iljaam (1986), he used to feel shy while romancing his co-star, Neelam. The actor said, "I remember during my first film, I had to shoot a romantic song with Neelam, and I just couldn't do it. From the corner, Saroj (Khan) held me and inquired whether I had ever romanced a girl! I said 'no', and she immediately asked one of her assistant choreographers to teach me how to do the romantic steps, and It was quite something."

For the uninitiated, Govinda had first met Neelam during the shooting of his debut film, Ilzaam, in 1986. In an old interview with the Stardust, Govinda had shared the details of their first meeting. He had said, "I remember the first time I met her. At Pranlal Mehta’s office. She was wearing white shorts. Her long hair falling straight, like an angel’s. ‘Hello’, she said politely, and I was scared to reply because my knowledge of English was embarrassing. It still is. And I wondered how I would communicate with her on the sets. I had never imagined I would work with her. She was a distant dream."
During the same interview, Govinda had revealed how Neelam’s beauty smote him. He had even tried to mould his then-girlfriend and now-wife, Sunita Ahuja, like Neelam and would often ask her to become like the actress, which invariably had enraged Sunita.
Govinda and Neelam had worked together in 14 films, and all of them were a hit in the '90s!
