Aaron Rai became the first Englishman to win the PGA Championship, and while people are wondering how he would celebrate the milestone, his wife, Gaurika Bishnoi, revealed his plans.
Indian-born English golfer, Aaron Rai, is in the headlines after he won the PGA Championship. However, it was his wife, Gaurika Bishnoi, who was the happiest as her husband achieved the milestone. The 31-year-old is the first Englishman to win the PGA Championship since 1919, and he has earned USD 3,690,000 and a lifetime exemption to the tournament.
Recently, in an interview with The Guardian, Aaron Rai was questioned about how he was going to celebrate his win. While he admitted that he has not yet been able to take in his achievement, his wife, Gaurika Bishnoi, jumped in and revealed his plans. She revealed that he is going to celebrate it with Chipotle.
Aaron Rai claimed he learned about the hundred-year jinx on May 16, 2026. He stated that players who have gone on to achieve incredible things have had phenomenal careers. He exclaimed how it was extremely incredible to achieve the milestone and win the event, and then becoming the first person to have won it in a long time is amazing. He said:
"There’s been a lot of incredible and historic English players over those hundred years, players who have gone on to achieve incredible things and had phenomenal careers, so to win this event and then to be the person that’s the first one to have won it in a long time from England is an amazing thing and something to be extremely proud of."
Further, Aaron dedicated his victory to Gaurika and stated that she had given him crucial advice on game night. He went on to reveal that she is a professional golfer herself, and her mindset, her advice, and her thoughts helped him a lot. He revealed that they had a conversation about the gam for 30 minutes, which worked for him. He said:
"I’m not exaggerating when I say that I wouldn’t be here without her. She’s a professional golfer herself. So her mindset, her advice, her thoughts, whether it’s technique or the way I’m holding myself is absolutely invaluable. We even had a conversation yesterday for probably 30 minutes in the car just before we got back to the hotel, just and some of the things that she mentioned in the conversations were really with me today."
Aaron further revealed that he won the game by simply ignoring the leaderboard. He added that there were a lot of people who were close to his score. Aaron further added that he couldn't lose a split second of focus at any point in the game. He said:
"Honestly, I didn’t look too much at the leaderboard. I knew there were a lot of people that were relatively close, but I think regardless of how bunched that it was, it still required a really good, strong round of golf. The course really demanded it this week, it was so punishing. You couldn’t lose a split-second of focus at any part, whether it was a tee shot, whether it was an approach shot, whether it was a put."
The world knows about Aaron Rai, but not many know that his wife, Gaurika Bishnoi, is also a professional golfer. She hails from Gurgaon, India and has made a career in golf in India. She also competed in the Ladies European Tour, and is one of the famous golfers to emerge from India. She also won the Hero Women's Pro Golf Tour in India many times.
