Throwback to the time when Esha Deol paid a visit to Dharmendra's family home and met his first wife, Prakash Kaur.
Dharmendra is one of the most charming actors in Bollywood. Before marrying Hema Malini, Dharmendra was first married to Prakash Kaur. The couple then became parents to Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeeta Deol, and Ajeeta Deol. Soon, Dharmendra fell in love with Hema Malini, but he wasn't ready to leave or divorce Prakash.
Without divorcing Prakash, Dharmendra married Hema, and soon they welcomed two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. Despite the two marriages, Dharmendra’s two wives and kids share a cordial bond, but the two wives stayed in different homes. It took Esha 30 years to meet Dharmendra’s first wife, Prakash Kaur.
In Hema Malini's biography, Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl, Esha Deol talked about how she became the first member of Hema’s family to enter Dharmendra’s house. Sharing the details, Esha revealed that she was extremely close with Dharmendra’s brother, Ajeet Deol, Abhay Deol’s father. However, when Ajeet fell ill in 2015, Esha wanted to meet him and check on him.
But Ajeet Deol was being treated at Dharmendra’s house. She went to meet Ajeet Deol with the help of her half-brother, Sunny Deol, who made all the arrangements for the meeting. Elaborating on the same, she said:
“I wanted to meet my uncle and pay my respects. He loved me and Ahana very much and we were also very close to Abhay. We had no other way than to go to his house. He was not even in the hospital that we would meet him there. So I called Sunny Bhaiya and they made full arrangements to meet him.”
After Sunny Deol arranged Esha Deol's meeting with Ajeet at Dharmendra’s family home, the actress ran into her stepmother, Prakash Kaur. Recalling her first interaction with Prakash Kaur, she said they had a brief meeting, as the former left her after blessing her. Esha was quoted as saying:
“I touched her feet, and she left me after blessing me.”
Despite the two marriages, Hema Malini and Prakash Kaur maintained a cordial bond. The actress never interfered in her husband's and his first wife's matters. In her biography, Hema Malini: The Dream Girl, Hema revealed that she never met Dharmendra's first wife, Prakash Kaur, after their wedding because she didn't want to disturb her. Revealing the reason behind it, Hema penned:
“I didn’t want to disturb anyone. I am happy with whatever Dharamji did for me and my daughters. He played the role of a father, like any father would do. I guess I am happy with that.”
