'Chehre' Actor, Emraan Hashmi Recalls His Son, Ayaan's Five-Year-Long Battle With Kidney Cancer

In an interview, 'Chehre' actor, Emraan Hashmi recalled his son, Ayaan's five-year-long battle with cancer and what gave them the courage!

Emraan Hashmi's son, Ayaan Hashmi was just four years old in 2010 when he was diagnosed with cancer, as Malignant tumour cells were found in his kidney. While every parent wishes good health for their kids, Emraan and his wife, Parveen were shattered to hear the news. They knew that they had to be strong for their kid, and had decided to take their son to Canada for his treatment. It was after five long years that Ayaan had won the battle against cancer.

Emraan Hashmi had shared the good news of his son’s recovery on his Instagram handle. Sharing some beautiful pictures, Emraan had captioned them with a note that could be read as "Today, 5 years after his diagnosis Ayaan has been declared cancer-free. It has been quite a journey. Thank you for all your prayers and wishes. Love and prayers for all the cancer fighters out there, hope and belief go a long way. You can WIN this battle !!! #thekissoflife."

Now, in a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the Chehre actor, Emraan Hashmi recalled what his family went through during their son’s battle with cancer. Emraan shared that they still wonder from where they had got the courage to fight with the situation. He said, “I dont know, Like I was talking about it to my wife the other day, I still dont know where we got the courage when we got the courage to deal with it. But I think when you fight you dont think about it, that is what happens, you dont think about much.”

Emraan further shared that the only ray of hope for them was the idea that Ayaan will be fine soon. He added, “You are just all in and do that fight. More than us it was my son who was going through the physical pain or whatever he was for so many years. I think the ray of hope for my family was just the fact that we knew that he would be okay and it’s that energy is kind of why things fell in place.”

Talking about his book, The Kiss of Life, Emraan mentioned that he wanted to help out everyone suffering from cancer. He said, “So that is why I thought through this book I’ll impart this and share the experience with other parents and people who are suffering from cancer. The end does not always have to be dark, there are ways of curing yourself through this, through certain lifestyle changes, healthy stuff exercise and all of that. It was a tough 5 years and also a huge learning experience.”

Emraan Hashmi is a doting father. On January 15, 2021, Mumbai Saga actor, Emraan had shared two pictures from his outing to the magical dark rooms with his son, Ayaan Hashmi on his IG handle. Emraan had shared two pictures, where the first one was his selfie, while in the second one, his son, Ayaan was seen sitting in the first row and posing for the camera with the victory gesture. Along with the pictures, Emraan had written, "Back to those magical dark rooms called theatres ( for those of you itching to ask why some of us aren't wearing masks, it's called a social bubble, look it up ) #backtothetheatres" in the caption.

For the unversed, Emraan Hashmi had married his childhood love, Parveen Shahani on December 14, 2006. They had welcomed their son, Ayaan on February 3, 2010.
