However, now, with her release coming up, some new details have emerged online.
TMZ has made some new revelations about Elizabeth Holmes' terms of release. The billionaire scammer is barred from reaching out to the many investors she was convicted of ripping off. According to reports, she was able to snag over USD 452 million. So, once she gets out of federal prison, she won't be allowed to contact them in any way.
According to court documents obtained by the media outlet, Elizabeth Holmes, the former CEO of Theranos, must have absolutely no contact with the 14 victims of her scam unless a probation officer directs her to do so. For those who don't know, authorities successfully prosecuted Holmes for concocting a fraudulent scheme. She convinced investors to pour money into her tech startup that promised to revolutionize blood testing.
Under the special conditions of her supervised release, Elizabeth Holmes must also make restitution payments to the investor victims. These payments include USD 40 million to Walgreens and more than USD 14 million to Safeway.
In addition to this, the documents say that Holmes must give her probation officer access to her financial records. For those who are not familiar with the case, Elizabeth Holmes was once hailed as the youngest self-made female billionaire from Silicon Valley. She founded Theranos in 2004 after dropping out of Stanford University and claimed that its Edison device could perform hundreds of medical tests using only a few drops of blood.
The technology was considered a massive breakthrough in medical history, and the company attracted high-profile investors. However, by 2015, her business' true colors began to appear, and it was revealed that she had scammed many investors for her own personal gain. Keeping her crimes and elaborate planning behind it in mind, the rules for her further include providing her tax returns and authorizing the probation officer to perform credit checks to make sure she stays on the straight and narrow.
However, that is not all. Elizabeth Holmes will also have to participate in a mental health treatment program, have her DNA collected, and subject herself to searches of her residence, office, vehicle, or any of her other property. The media outlet previously shared that Elizabeth will be transferred to the halfway house in 2027 after she wraps up her stay at the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas.
ABC reporter Rebecca Jarvis said Holmes' victims were notified about her move to the halfway house near Austin, TX, on August 23, 2027. The federal Bureau of Prisons also said Elizabeth Holmes' official release date is February 22, 2030, which means she'll be stuck at the halfway house, Austin Transitional Center in Del Valle, for a few years before completing her sentence.
As you may know, Elizabeth Holmes was incarcerated at FPC Bryan in May 2023. She was initially sentenced to more than 11 years in prison, but in March 2026, the judge shaved a year off her sentence.
