As 'Drishyam 3' is trending after its theatrical release, the cast's whopping salaries have hit the spotlight, especially Mohanlal's, who was rumoured to have doubled his fee.
Mohanlal is back as ‘Georgekutty’ as his much-awaited film, Drishyam 3 is released on his 66th birthday, i.e. May 21, 2026. The much-awaited thriller received a positive response from critics and audience alike and people are flocking the theatres to witness ‘lal ettan’ finesse as an actor. And to add the excitement, Mohanlal himself greeted his fans by attending the first show of the film in Kerala. Amid the Drishyam craze, reports are rife that the maverick doubled his salary for his titular role in the film.
Apart from the gripping plot and storyline, what caught people’s attention was the remuneration received by the cast members. As per reports, the cast received a significant rise in the third instalment of the film. However, as Mohanlal plays the titular and most important character in the film, the biggest paycheck went to the iconic actor.
According to media reports, the veteran superstar doubled his fee for Drishyam 3. Previously, Mohanlal earned around Rs 5-6 crore for Drishyam and approximately Rs. 10-12 crore for Drishyam 2. But for the third film of the franchise, Drishyam 3, Mohanlal took a whopping amount of Rs. 20 crores, making him the highest paid actor in the film.
Actress Asha Sharath, reprise her iconic role as 'IG Geetha Prabhakar' in Drishyam 3. She plays the role of Varun’s relentless mother, who goes to different routes to solve the mystery behind her son’s death. Her character undergoes an unexpected arc, adding suspense and dramatic twists in the film to end Georgekutty’s saga. If reports are to be believed, the actress has charged around Rs. 1 crore for her role in Drishyam 3.
Actress, Ansiba Hassan played the role of Georgekutty’s elder daughter 'Anju'. Her character was the emotional pillar which connected the whole story with Georgekutty. To reprise her role in the third part of the franchise, Ansiba charged Rs. 1 crore.
Actress, Meena was seen opposite Mohanlal in Drishyam 3 as like the previous films of the franchise, she plays the role of his wife, 'Rani George'. Meena added layers to her character in the film and her emotional approach was commendable. For her role, Meena reportedly charged Rs. 75 lakhs. On the other hand, actor, Siddique, who played the supporting role of 'Prabhakar', was also seen in Drishyam 3. He played the role of Varun’s father and Geetha Prabhakar’s husband. The veteran actor reportedly charged Rs. 60 lakhs to reprise his role.
Drishyam 3 will also feature Esther Anil, who played the role of Georgekutty’s younger daughter, 'Anumol'. Esther received a lot of applaud for her role in Drishyam and Drishyam 2 as she impressed the audience with her role. To reprise her role, she charged Rs. 25 lakhs, which made her the lowest paid star in the film.
Directed by Jeethu Joseph and backed by Aashirvad Cinemas and Panorama Studios, the first part of Drishyam was released in 2013. Touted as one of the biggest thriller franchises, Drishyam 3 was reportedly made on a budget of Rs. 100 crores. The plot of Drishyam 3 brings back 'Georgekutty', the titular character played by Mohanlal, who tries to protect his family. The film will continue to take the audience back to 'Georgekutty’s life as he tries to deal with the long-term consequences of the crime his family committed in part 1.
