The duo had been together for nine years prior to this. And while the wedding was nothing but “wonderful,” there was some unexpected stress that came with planning her special day.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Drew Afualo admitted that getting everything ready for her wedding to Pili Tanuvasa was not a smooth road. There was naturally a lot of stress on her since they were getting married after nine years together. The stress and the last-minute changes eventually took a toll on Drew’s health as she revealed:
“Well, I lost some hair, and I developed eczema on my eyelids, but I did win in the end.”
The wedding planning became even more stressful as the date of the ceremony drew near. This is because Drew Afualo had to make some significant changes, including replacing her wedding planner as well as the venue for her big day. She said that this was just four weeks before the celebration. Thankfully, the influencer clarified that even though there was “lots of stress,” she made it in the end, and there were no problems on the day of her wedding.
All the pressure leading up to the ceremony did not stop Drew and her now-husband from celebrating and having a great time with their loved ones. And for Drew, it was having them all by her side, one of the most meaningful parts of the occasion. She explained:
“I think it was just having all of my favorite people in one specific place that is so special to my heart. So I think that was probably the coolest part. Plus, a lot of the indigenous people we were able to employ for the wedding were also a huge win for us.”
Now that Drew Afualo is already a married woman and no longer needs to stress about planning for the wedding, she is fully focused on settling into this new stage of her relationship with Pili Tanuvasa. She claimed that newlywed life has been “amazing” so far. She said, “Honestly, it feels great. I think it feels the same in a lot of ways, which I think is a beautiful thing.”
Even after her marriage, Drew is looking forward to continuing to build her connection with Pili. Speaking about how thoroughly she is enjoying her first year of marriage with the love of her life, she shared:
“I think just growing in my relationship. Growing in another level of it. It feels a lot like a next chapter for us. I’m just excited to keep growing with my partner. Both of us are so good-looking and successful; it’s just a win.”
For those who don't know, Drew Afualo’s husband, Pili Tanuvasa, is a fitness and lifestyle coach. He is a Southern California native of Pacific Islander descent and has played a significant role in Drew’s life for several years. He was also the one who encouraged the content creator to start her TikTok journey during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pili is known for his dedication to fitness. In addition to owning a fitness center, he also co-leads the Strong Like Drew program with his wife, where they showcase their shared commitment to wellness and empowerment.
