In a recent AMA, Divya Khosla Kumar addressed divorce rumours with Bhushan Kumar and opened up about them.
Divya Khosla Kumar is one of the most loved actresses in Bollywood, who has been in the limelight from a very early age. The actress-turned-filmmaker has faced many speculations, especially about her marriage to Bhushan Kumar. Over the past few years, it has been reported that Divya and Bhushan have split and are divorced. Now, Divya responded to the rumours for the first time.
Taking to her social media handle, Divya hosted an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session with her fans, in which she answered many questions related to her personal and professional lives. During the segment, one of the users asked her, “Are you divorced?" To which she responded and said:
“No, but the media really wants that.”
In the same interaction, when a user asked Divya about the toxicity of Bollywood and how she maintains her mental health amid such negativity, she had a straightforward answer. Revealing how it is important to remain true to oneself, she said:
“I myself feel that Bollywood is a place where there are crocodiles all around, and you feel like you are navigating your way through it. I think the most important thing is to remain true to your own self. I will never sell my soul to get work. Hota hai toh theek hai, nahi hota toh bhi theek hai and what's more important is when you reach up, you should have a good slate of karma to carry with you."
In February 2024, Divya removed ‘Kumar’ from her surname. According to the internet user’s claims, the actress has seemingly dropped her husband’s surname from her name, which earlier used to appear as Divya Khossla Kumar. Not just this, the actress also unfollowed Bhushan’s maiden music label, T-Series. After this, many social media users began commenting on Bhushan and Divya's divorce.
Soon after the reports surfaced in the media, Bhushan Kumar's team addressed the ongoing rumours about the couple’s alleged divorce after 19 years of marriage. The spokesperson said there was "No truth" to the stories about their separation and clarified the reason behind Divya's decision to make a few name changes. Elaborating on it, the source said:
"Divya Khossla's choice to drop her married surname, driven by astrological beliefs, is a personal decision and should be respected. The addition of an 's' to her maiden surname, symbolising her astrological belief, is for the same thought."
