Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleIt was in April 2026 that the scandal involving Patriots head coach, Mike Vrabel and The Athletic reporter, Dianna Russini, broke out after pictures of the duo cosying up surfaced on social media. Amid the scandal, Dianna deleted her X account after she resigned from her position at The Athletic. Soon, Mike addressed the scandal and revealed taking counselling. On the other hand, Dianna maintained a stoic silence.
After the initial pictures were published, both Russini and Vrabel brushed it off, but things turned ugly when another set of pictures showing the two kissing at a New York City bar in 2020 surfaced in the media. The New York Times reached out to Russini for her comment on the scandal, and the former journalist responded via text message. Revealing how the whole scandal ruined her life, she responded:
“This has had a significant impact on my life, both professionally and personally.”
The New York Times published a report on the Russini-Vrabel drama. According to the publication, after Dianna responded to the scandal, in which she described herself as a 'former journalist', she later asked the reporter not to quote her or publish the story. The reporter denied Dianna’s request, stating that there was no agreement between them to engage in off-the-record correspondence. This reportedly prompted Dianna to email senior editors and the publisher to reiterate her request that her comments not be included. Since there was no off-record contract, Dianna’s quote was eventually published.
A few months back, Page Six shared exclusive pictures of New England Patriots head coach, Mike Vrabel and New York Times NFL reporter, Dianna Russini. In the pictures, Dianna and Mike were seen spending time together at a hotel in Arizona. The images, reportedly taken on March 28, 2026, showed Dianna and Mike holding hands and hugging on a private rooftop bungalow during the evening.
After Dianna and Mike’s pictures went viral, Page Six released a new set of photos of the couple from 2020, in which both were seen having a close conversation with each other at a dimly lit, romantic Manhattan bar. The pictures are from 2020, six years ago, before the duo's latest photo scandal. In one of the pictures, Mike was seen leaning towards Dianna and apparently kissed her.
Within a week of the scandal, Dianna Russini stepped down from her role at The Athletic. In her letter to Executive Editor Steven Ginsberg, Dianna defended herself, stating that she had covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout her career. Dianna also mentioned that she didn’t step away from her position because she wasn't at fault, but she didn’t wish to give it any further attention. After Page Six released Dianna and Mike’s kissing pictures, she took her off social media and deleted her X account (formerly known as Twitter). Her content was no longer visible on the platform.
Amid Mike and Dianna’s extra-marital affairs, there were claims that it was not her first time and that the journalist had affairs with other coaches previously. An alleged former NFL scout shared on X that Russini had an extramarital affair with two coaches before Mike Vrabel. Though there are no proven facts to claim the allegation.
