Mukesh Chhabra, the casting director of 'Dhurandhar', reacted to the negative reviews ahead of the film's release.
Dhurandhar, the spy action thriller starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and more, was the highly anticipated film of 2025. The film has finally hit the theatres on December 5, 2025. However, a few days back, the thriller landed in legal trouble. But CBFC dismissed the petition filed by the parents of late Major Mohit Sharma and gave a green signal to it. Now, the casting director of Dhurandhar, Mukesh Chhabra, reacted to people calling the film an average one.
On December 5, 2025, Mukesh Chhabra, the casting director of Dhurandhar, took to his X handle (formerly Twitter) and slammed the trolls who criticised the film and gave negative reviews ahead of its release. For the uninitiated, ahead of Dhurandhar, there has been a lot of online chatter that raised questions regarding the film being less promoted. In fact, when the press screening of Dhurandhar was cancelled, some users claimed that the thriller is an average one, so the makers had cancelled it.
Mukesh called the negative reviews 'unnecessary'. He shared that the cast and crew screening had to be cancelled because of a technical glitch. He expressed that some people are ready to spread negativity even before watching the film. The note shared by him can be read as:
"How amazingly it has turned out. I’ve been reading so many unnecessary negative reviews, and honestly, it’s very funny. I was there as one of the HODs of the film. They even had to cancel the cast and crew screening because of a technical glitch. Kya log hain… kisi ne film dekhi bhi nahi, but negativity ke liye ready hain. Haha. phaad degi box office (What kind of people are these? No one saw the film and yet they are ready to spread negativity. It will set the box office on fire)! Can’t wait for the magic."
Yami Gautam is widely known for her strong screen presence. Her recent film, Haq, co-starring Emraan Hashmi, became one of the most talked-about films of 2025. In her personal life, she is married to Dhurandhar’s director, Aditya Dhar. The couple got married on June 4, 2021. They tied the knot in a private ceremony. Ahead of Dhurandhar’s release, Yami took to her Instagram handle and slammed the practice of paid hype and negative PR existing in the film industry. An excerpt from her note can be read as:
"There is something I’ve been wanting to express for really long, I feel today is that day & I must. This so-called trend of giving money, in the disguise of marketing a film, to ensure good ‘hype’ for a film is created, or else ‘they’ will continuously write negative things (even before the film is released), until you pay ‘them’ money feels nothing but kind of extortion. Just because this arrangement is accessible to anyone- whether to ‘hype’ a film or spread negativity against another actor/a film is a plague that is going to affect the future of our industry in a big way."
After the trailer release of Dhurandhar, there were multiple claims that Ranveer Singh’s character has a close resemblance to the late Major Mohit Sharma. There were speculations that the film is a biopic on the late Major Mohit Sharma. However, director, Aditya Dhar quashed the rumours and made a tweet. He clearly stated that Dhurandhar is not a biopic. The note can be read as:
"Our film Dhurandhar is not based on the life of braveheart Major Mohit Sharma AC(P) SM. This is an official clarification. I assure you, if we do make a biopic on Mohit sir in the future, we will do it with full consent and in complete consultation with the family."
