Dennis Locorriere, the legendary singer and guitarist known as the frontman of Dr Hook, has died at the age of 76. TMZ confirmed his death. In turn, the news has left the music industry in mourning. Dennis was one of the biggest names from the 1970s soft rock era. At the same time, he spent nearly six decades of his life working on music. What caused Dennis Locorriere's death at 76?

According to an official statement released by Dennis Locorriere's management to TMZ, the legendary singer and guitarist has died. His loved ones surrounded him after what they called a "long and courageous battle" with kidney disease. In turn, Dennis' team praised him for bravely dealing with the illness during the final years. They also requested the privacy of his family as they coped with the loss.

According to some reports, Dennis Locorriere was dealing with kidney complications from 2019. It was allegedly caused after some prostate procedure that later caused some health issues. In fact, the condition had earlier forced the postponement of Dr Hook's 50th Anniversary World Tour. But despite the health issues, he continued to stay connected with his fans and music. Dennis spent his final 24 years in Sussex, England, after moving from the United States.

Dennis Locorriere, born in New Jersey, built a successful career spanning generations and continents. In turn, his team mentioned that he remains deeply loved by those close to him. At the same time, they highlighted that he has left a lasting impact on those around him.

Dennis Locorriere kept his personal life mostly private despite his fame. He reportedly married thrice throughout his life. At the time of his death, he was living in England with his third wife, Claire. Previously, he was married to Maryanne and Susan. The singer also had a son during his initial touring years. In his old interviews, Dennis Locorriere opened up about the touring lifestyle during Dr Hook's peak years, which made it difficult for him to spend time with his child as he was growing up.

However, Dennis was surrounded by his family members and close friends during his final moments. However, none of his loved ones has shared any public statement or update about any memorial services. Meanwhile, his fans paid their tribute to him on social media.

More about Dennis Locorriere's career 

Dennis Locorriere's music career spanned over 60 years. He co-founded Dr Hook and The Medicine Show in 1969 with some fellow musicians. One of them was Ray Sawyer, who became famous for his eye patch image, while Dennis' soulful, emotional voice backed some of the band's most soulful songs.

Dr Hook first rose to fame through songs penned by Shel Silverstein. Some of them included Sylvia's Mother, The Cover of the Rolling Stone, etc. Eventually, in the late 1970s, the band became one of the world's most successful soft rock bands. After the band split in 1985, Dennis moved to Nashville and worked as a songwriter in studios. He also worked with artists such as Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and Olivia Newton-John.
