Denise recently sat for a candid conversation and revealed that it was her ex-husband who inspired her to get transparent about the cosmetic procedure.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Denise Richards recently sat for a candid conversation where she talked about going public about going under the knife. The actress appeared on The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, and reflected on her decision to open up about her 2025 facelift.
The actress alum reflected on what led her to go public with the announcement and told Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg that her decision was largely inspired by her ex-husband, Aaron Phypers. Denise Richards revealed that Aaron "disclosed" she had undergone a facelift and had "a photographer show up outside an appointment where I had some microneedling on my scars". The actress further added that Aaron not only got the pictures but also called her cosmetic work "botched."
In the same conversation, Denise Richards revealed that Aaron Phypers said something about the cosmetic surgery in court and she knew he had done it on purpose. She shared that she was so "pleasantly surprised" because the media didn't print it, which was nice. However, she figured that it was time that she got honest about the work she had done. And moreover, she didn't want her ex-husband, Aaron Phypers, to have that kind of power over her. She was quoted as saying:
"He said something in court about it on purpose. And I was so pleasantly surprised because there was media in there that didn't print it, which was nice. But I figured, you know what, I think I just need to be honest. And I didn't want to give him that power and have to say it then."
Despite the drama leading up to her plastic surgery confession, Denise Richards shared that she stands by her decision to lay it all out there. She admitted she is extremely glad she opened up, even though she wasn't sure how people would react. She was quoted as saying:
"I'm so glad that I've been open about it. I didn't know how people would react, but I think I want to know what everyone's doing. What are peptides, what's this, what's that...And plus, I feel [my plastic surgeon] did such a great job on me that I wanted to share the information."
In the same conversation, Denise Richards revealed that when she had her breast implants done, things were extremely different and people were more private about the procedures they were getting done. The actress added that she was surprised how open people were about these things now. She was quoted as saying:
"In the '90s, when I got my [breast] implants, we didn't have social media, and I feel that a lot of us were much more private. And so, I was actually surprised how open a lot of people were."
For the unversed, Denise Richards was referring to the facelift she underwent in July 2025. The actress opened up about it during a March 2026 interview with Allure. Reflecting on why she got it done, Denise said she "wanted to put things back up, where they were before." While Richards got a breast augmentation in her late teens and then later had a revision surgery, this was her first major cosmetic operation for her face.
At the time, Richards described the facelift's effects as "night and day," telling the magazine, "It's shocking, actually."
