Daveigh Chase's mother has finally reflected on her daughter's passing. She revealed that while her daughter lived like a homeless person in her final years, she has left behind a massive amount of money. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Daveigh's mother, Cathy Chase, asked the court to appoint her as the administrator of the late actress' estate. She said Daveigh had no children and was never married, which means there is no successor to her wealth.
According to the documents, Cathy Chase alleged that her daughter left behind USD 400,000 in personal property. She revealed that Daveigh Chase's father, John Schwailler, lives in Las Vegas and the Philippines, but she doesn't know his overseas address. The revelation has left the fans stunned, as despite the riches, Daveigh was living on the streets during her final years.
It was previously reported that Daveigh Chase died on June 16, 2026 (ET), at age 35. Her cause of death was ruled as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and drug use. The death was determined to be natural. However, before her death, the actress' friends were desperately searching for her in her final months after a video of her living near Skid Row was sent to them.
While the news of her passing had already left the world in shock, it was soon reported that the actress was homeless for the last decade of her life. According to a report by The New York Post, Daveigh Chase's former manager, John Ryan, had made the shocking claim. However, it wasn't just John Ryan, but the late actress's father, John Schwallier, who also stated that his daughter was homeless.
John revealed that Daveigh reportedly lived with her boyfriend in Los Angeles. Ryan noted that he and Chase's stepsister, Gaia Brown, searched for her for months and even hired a PI to look for her. Nonetheless, it was in late 2025 that they came across a video of Daveigh Chase lying on what appeared to be a tent in the Skid Row neighbourhood of Los Angeles. However, by the time they arrived, she was already gone.
Cathy Chase previously spoke with the Daily Mail and revealed that she knew her daughter, Daveigh Chase, was "seeking drugs and was partying with the wrong people." The unfortunate revelation came weeks after Daveigh's death, as Cathy explained that her little girl was "completely gone" by 2019. She recalled that she even visited Daveigh in jail in October 2019 after she was charged with two counts of burglary.
Cathy Chase described Daveigh Chase's behaviour as "out of her mind". In the candid conversation with the media outlet, she revealed that she thought something was wrong with her daughter. While she admitted that Daveigh was never diagnosed with any mental illnesses apart from PTSD, drugs had taken complete control over her. She was quoted as saying:
"I honestly thought there was something wrong with her. My daughter was never diagnosed with mental health other than PTSD. But the drugs took hold of her."
