Recently, actress, Daryl Hannah slammed the makers of the series, 'Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette' for false portrayal of her relationship with JFK Jr.
Hollywood actress, Daryl Hannah has been grabbing attention ever since the series, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette released. For those who missed it, it explores the love story of Carolyn and JFK Jr. However, what stole the spotlight was Daryl Hannah's past relationship with JFK Jr. Now, the actress opened up about the same and revealed that the makers failed to portray the reality. It is worth mentioning that the series is streaming now on Hulu.
Recently, Daryl wrote an essay for The New York Times, in which she expressed her disappointment towards the recently released series. For the unversed, Daryl was in a long term relationship with JFK Jr. The actress explained that the way her character and the relationship has been portrayed in Love Story is not accurate. She shared:
"The character 'Daryl Hannah' portrayed in the series is not even a remotely accurate representation of my life, my conduct or my relationship with John. The actions and behaviors attributed to me are untrue. I have long believed that engaging with distortion often amplifies it. But a recent tragedy-exploiting television series about John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette features a character using my name and presents her as me. The choice to present her as irritating, self-absorbed, whiny and inappropriate was no accident."
Further, Daryl Hannah pointed out some scenes from the series and revealed that they are entirely false. For those who missed the series, there is a scene where Daryl’s character is consuming co****e and organising parties. Sharing her frustration on the same, Darly Hannah wrote:
"I have never used co****e in my life or hosted co****e-fueled parties. I have never pressured anyone into marriage. I have never desecrated any family heirloom or intruded upon anyone’s private memorial. It’s appalling to me that I even have to defend myself against a television show. These are not creative embellishments of personality. They are assertions about conduct- and they are false."
Towards the end, Daryl Hannah stated that over the years, she has often come across multiple lies and false stories about her; however, she chose to remain silent and focus on her work. Daryl further revealed that even though she is choosing to remain silent, the audience should not misunderstand it and create false narrative. Daryl shared:
"I’ve endured a number of outrageous lies, crappy stories and unflattering characterizations before. I chose not to battle them but to focus on my work and respect my loved ones by keeping my private life private. But my silence should not be mistaken for agreement with lies."
Coming to the love story of Daryl Hannah and John F. Kennedy Jr., they reportedly met in the 1980s. However, their romance began in the late 1980s, when they crossed paths at a social event. It is worth mentioning that the duo had an on-and-off relationship for more than five years and were often spotted together. If reports are to be believed, around the 1990s, the duo started facing issues and eventually parted ways in 1994.
