'Con City' Ending Explained, 'Jeeva's' Abduction And How The Fake Family Became Real To Save Him

Tamil crime comedy Con City arrived in theatres on June 26, 2026. Featuring Arjun Das, Anna Ben, and many others in the lead roles, the movie focuses on a family that is enjoying a simple life. However, things take a different turn when one of their close ones is kidnapped, and they are forced to take a path that is expected to have its own consequences.

The Family, The Past, And The Kidnapping That Breaks Everything

Con City follows ‘Saravanan,’ played by Arjun Das, and his wife ‘Mithra,’ played by Anna Ben. On the surface, they run a small restaurant in Mangalore. Living with them are ‘Mithra’s’ brother ‘Jackie,’ played by Yogi Babu, and his mother ‘Janaki,’ played by Vadivukkarasi. To the world, they look like a normal, slightly messy family.

In reality, all four of them are con artists who have been living under false identities for seven years. Each of them started scamming for different reasons. ‘Saravanan’ worked at the Electricity Board and got buried in debt. He resorted to fraudulent activities with a friend just to get money quickly. His EB printer scam is what the film uses to show how he thinks - he understands systems and where they break.

‘Mithra’s’ story is different. She was cheated first in a real estate deal, and then learned how to do the same thing to others. She turned the trick that was used on her into her own method. ‘Jackie’ and ‘Janaki’ are a different case.

They didn’t fall into crime out of need. They chose it because they want money and they want to make a movie. ‘Janaki’ is especially good at using people’s sympathy for an old woman. She can walk into any room and disarm suspicion. ‘Jackie’ is good at becoming whatever person a situation needs. Over the years, the four of them built a cover story - ‘Saravanan’ and ‘Mithra’ are husband and wife, ‘Jackie’ and ‘Mithra’ are siblings, and ‘Janaki’ is their mother.

They even have a son in the story, ‘Jeeva.’ But there’s one key detail. ‘Saravanan’ has no real connection to ‘Jeeva.’ For most of the film, he keeps his distance. He lives in the house, plays the role, but doesn’t act like a father. That distance breaks when ‘Jeeva’ goes missing from school.

A CCTV clip shows that his kidnapping is not random. After seven years of running, the family’s past has caught up to them. The kidnapper is linked to debts and scams from before Mangalore. Suddenly, pretending to be a family isn’t enough. If they want ‘Jeeva’ back, they have to actually become one.

The Final Con And What Changes For ‘Saravanan’

Instead of going to the police, the four decide to do what they do best - run one last con. But this time it’s not for money. It’s to get ‘Jeeva’ back. There’s no big action sequence and no last-minute masterplan twist. The rescue works because each of them uses the exact skills they’ve built over years of fraud. ‘Mithra’ knows how to manipulate people into giving up information.

‘Jackie’ can talk his way into any room and become whoever he needs to be. ‘Janaki’ can make people drop their guard because she looks harmless. ‘Saravanan’ understands how systems work. He can find the gap, the weak point, and use it. They combine all of that and track down the kidnapper. Through their teamwork, they manage to get ‘Jeeva’ back safely. The kidnapper plot is resolved. No one gets arrested. No one suddenly becomes good. The film doesn’t end with repentance or punishment.

What does change is ‘Saravanan.’ For 7 years, he treated the family and ‘Jeeva’ like a role he was playing. In the rescue, that role becomes real. By choosing to lead the operation and risk everything for ‘Jeeva’, he stops being a co-habitant and becomes part of the family for real. The film doesn’t spend time with speeches about it. It shows it through action.

By the end, the four of them are still together in Mangalore, running the restaurant. The performance they started due to necessity has turned into something closer to a real family. That’s the core of the ending. The scams get smaller in the second half, and the pacing gets messy, but the film lands on one idea: people who pretended to be a family end up becoming one when they have to fight for each other.
