Chadwick Boseman's wife, Taylor, got to spend an extremely short time with him after their marriage, as the famous American actor was diagnosed with colon cancer and he passed away in 2020.
Famous American actor Chadwick Boseman was known for his iconic portrayals of his famous characters. He rose to worldwife fame for playing 'King T'Challa' in Black Panther. However, he had a tragic demise as he passed away at the age of 43, in 2020, just a few months after his marriage. He is survived by his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward.
For the unversed, Chadwick Boseman was married to Taylor Simone Ledward. He was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016. However, he had kept his illness away from the public eye and kept working in major films. Recently, Chadwick Boseman's widow, Taylor, opened up about his diagnosis.
Taylor Simone is a singer. She graduated from California State Polytechnic University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in music studies. She would sing in her school's jazz band. And built her own career despite being married to a famous name. Taylor and Chadwick's relationship came to the public limelight in 2015 at the airport. Later, they were spotted walking hand-in-hand outside the Jimmy Kimmel Live studio in L.A.
Taylor also attended Chadwick's Black Panther after-party in New York in February 2018. They were also seen attending the NBA All-Star game. And it was Ledward's grandmother who talked about their relationship in April 2018. She shared that the two respect each other and were extremely happy together.
The couple had been together since 2016. But they made their relationship official during Boseman's acceptance speech for Black Panther's win. He called out his girlfriend Ledward's name and also talked about her presence in his life. He openly confessed his love, and said:
"Simone, you’re with me every day. I have to acknowledge you right now. Love you."
However, Taylor and Chadwick kept their marriage away from the media limelight. It was only after his death that people found out that the two were married. In the official statement, it was stated that Chadwick died in his home, surrounded by his wife and family by his side. Reportedly, the couple got engaged in 2019, and soon they got married. And within months of their marriage, Chawick passed away due to colon cancer.
Almost six years after Chadwick's death, his widow, Taylor Simone, spoke about his death and his colon cancer journey. The actor died at the age of 42 in August 2020. Many didn't have any idea that he was suffering from cancer. In an interview with TODAY's Craig Melvin, Taylor revealed that her husband's diagnosis came as a surprise to both of them.
Taylor revealed that she had no idea that he was experiencing discomfort and had visited the doctor twice. It was sudden, and within a matter of weeks, he started feeling unwell. She called colon cancer tricky, and since he was young, he wasn't at a point to get colonscopy. She shared:
"I didn’t know that he was experiencing anything until he had already been to the doctor twice. It all seemed to come about very suddenly. It was a matter of weeks that he started not feeling well. And because he was so young, he wasn’t even at the point where he would consider having a colonoscopy."
It was in 2016 when Chadwick was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. However, his widow, Taylor, has no idea if the disease ran in her husband's family. After the diagnosis, the couple was confident that they would get through it. They thought that it was just a challenging time, but they would get out of it with surgery, and he would get chemotherapy. But things changed, and Chadwick passed away in 2020.
