Due to Carol Vorderman’s immense popularity, her love life has often garnered a lot of attention. Amid the news of her hospitalisation after she smashed her head, people began digging up her past love life. Currently, Carol is single. More than two decades ago, Carol parted ways with her ex-husband, Patrick King. He is well known as Carol’s second husband and is a media personality and management consultant from London.
In her late 20s, Carol Vorderman met Patrick King at her best friend from university’s wedding. Soon after their first encounter, the former pair began going out and got married 18 months later. Reportedly, they tied the knot in 1990. Speaking about their togetherness, once Carol said on the Postcards From Midlife podcast, "I was married very happily to my husband Paddy, Mr King. The father of my children through the 1990s – in my thirties."
During their marriage, Carol and Patrick welcomed two children. The former pair’s daughter, Katie, graduated with a PhD in nanotechnology and their son, Cameron, graduated from UWE Bristol. Carol and Patrick lasted for a decade, and they parted ways in 2000. However, the couple never spoke about what really went wrong in their marriage. Once in an interview with Woman Magazine, Carol said:
"My second marriage was very much proper. I never said why my marriage broke down, and we’d agreed never to talk about it publicly. The divorce is a regret of mine, and my mum thinks that we should have stayed together. He’s now remarried so there’s no chance of us getting back together. Had my career not taken off as it did, Paddy and I probably wouldn’t have split up."
Later, in another interview on Friday's instalment of This Morning, Carol compared her split from her second husband, Patrick, with bereavement. She mentioned how they were happily married. But suddenly things changed. Later, it was nothing but acceptance and moving forward. In her words:
"If you are in a long-term relationship and you break up, and I’ve been through one of those when I was very, very happily married to Paddy for many years and suddenly we weren’t. It’s like grief. It’s like a bereavement. And people shouldn’t belittle it and go, 'Oh yeah, go out, and you’re all having a good time.' It doesn’t work like that. And with bereavement, there are, you know, the five stages of grief and one of them is anger, and then ultimately it’s acceptance and moving forward."
Recently, Carol Vorderman took to her Instagram handle to share an update about her trip and fall. Due to this, she was hospitalised. Sharing the update, Carol wrote that she was discharged from the hospital after one day. But the next day, she was feeling dizzy and had vomiting issues. She mentioned in her note about an unusual technique that helped to combat dizziness. An excerpt from the note can be read as:
"Gave me the Epley technique. Sit upright on the massage bed with legs straight out, look at her with eyes open; she held me and then threw me backwards quite quickly. After one session, 95% of the dizziness went."
