Recent reports have shared an unfortunate update about Cardi B's former husband, Offset. According to reports, the well-known rapper was shot outside a hotel.
Offset, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, is a well-known American rapper, singer and songwriter. He is best known as a former member of an Atlanta-based hip-hop trio, Migos. He is also the ex-husband of rapper, Cardi B. Offset has lately been in the headlines for his fallen relationship with Cardi B. However, this time, the reason for his being in the headlines is further heartbreaking. According to reports, the rapper was rushed to the hospital after he was shot outside a hotel in Hollywood.
The news of Offset being admitted to the hospital made headlines on April 6, 2026 (ET). According to a report by TMZ, the rapper was shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood on Monday. A spokesperson for Offset told the news outlet that the rapper was stable, "fine", and receiving medical care at the hospital. The Seminole Police Department couldn't confirm whether Offset was the victim due to privacy concerns, but confirmed there was a shooting at the valet area after 7 p.m. that resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to an individual.
The victim was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. Seminole police "were on site immediately and the situation was contained quickly," revealed spokesperson, Gary Bitner. Two people, who were not identified by authorities, were detained in connection with the shooting. The Seminole Police Department later confirmed the victim's identity, as stated in a statement to USA TODAY. The Department further revealed:
"We are aware of an incident that occurred at a valet area after 7 p.m. Monday outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood that resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to an individual who was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. Seminole Police were on site immediately, and the situation was contained quickly. Two individuals have been detained by police."
The reports have further revealed that the investigation into the shooting is currently ongoing. While the Police Officials have claimed that there is no threat to the public, operations have continued as normal, and fans have been concerned about the rapper's well-being. As for the hotel where the incident took place, Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood has not yet commented on the incident.
This is not the first time someone in Offset's family has been shot in public. According to reports, the rapper's cousin, Takeoff, was shot and killed in 2022. The incident took place on November 1, 2022, following a private party at 810 Billiards and Bowling in the GreenStreet commercial development part of Houston, Texas. He was shot multiple times in the head and torso. The Houston Police Sergeant Michael Arrington at the time stated that an altercation broke out as a large group gathered outside the venue's third-floor entrance, and at least two guns were fired. He was shot at 2:50 am and was found dead on arrival, while two other victims were "taken in private vehicles to hospitals".
Offset has six children, three of whom he shares with ex Cardi B. The couple's three children are: 7-year-old, Kulture, 4-year-old, Wave and 1-year-old, Blossom. The on-again, off-again couple married in 2017 and filed for divorce in 2024. According to reports, Cardi B filed for divorce, citing that they were growing apart, constantly arguing, and had a desire to leave before scenarios like cheating escalated. Cardi B is currently touring in support of her latest album, Am I The Drama?
