Caitlyn Jenner and Sophia Hutchins shared a close friendship over the years. Notably, the latter died in an ATV accident in July 2025. The duo became friends after meeting through their mutual hairstylist and makeup artist in 2015. Caitlyn Jenner made the claims of unpaid expenses in a creditor’s claim filed on March 27, 2026. PEOPLE acquired the court documents of the same on April 7, 2026 (ET). As per the documents, the famous media personality said that she has reportedly not received an amount of USD 439,095.88 from Sophia Hutchins. Notably, Sophia’s estate has approved the pending payment on March 30, 2027. However, the legal documents pointed out that these things need additional approval from the court before the payment can be processed.
Notably, the claim was first filed by Caitlyn Jenner’s legal team in November 2025. A few letters for the same were also sent by mail in December 2025. For the unversed, the amount being requested by Caitlyn was allegedly spent on some personal needs of Sophia Hutchins, paid through Jenner’s credit cards. Although Sophia was supposed to pay Caitlyn, the former suddenly died before she could return the money as promised.
As per TMZ, the money being claimed by Caitlyn was reportedly used on various things, including payments on websites such as Shopify, eBay, and more. Apart from that, a majority of the amount was linked to credit card and debit card charges. Some cash payment was also made, followed by shared attorney fees worth USD 133,000.
Sophia Hutchins was 29 years old at the time of her death. The news was first announced by TMZ, saying that an ATV accident near Caitlyn Jenner’s residence led to her demise. Family sources and law enforcement confirmed that Sophia died during the morning hours in Malibu in July 2025. The ATV had two more people inside. The incident happened when the ATV hit the bumper of another vehicle, following which it fell into a ravine.
Detailed information on the accident was revealed three days later by Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Eduardo told Daily Mail that Sophia Hutchins was driving the ATV at a rapid speed and she possibly came up on the other vehicle, leading to the crash. Notably, the passengers of the other vehicle managed to escape without any injuries. Eduardo also stated:
“It looked like she tried to maneuver to go around it, but she was going too fast and just ended up clipping the rear end of that Mazda, causing her to veer off and go off the cliff there.”
