Brooklyn Beckham recently released a tell-all statement about his alleged estrangement from his famous parents, David and Victoria Beckham, which focuses on the incidents around his lavish wedding.
The Beckham family conflict, which was quietly simmering for months, is now playing out in full public view. It began after David and Victoria Beckham's eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, shared an explosive statement accusing his parents of interfering in his 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz.
Amid the major accusation, several people who worked with them behind the scenes have begun sharing their opinions. After Brooklyn's wedding DJ, the latest person to speak up is celebrity wedding planner, Preston Bailey, who helped design parts of the lavish Palm Beach ceremony. Here's what he has to say.
Preston Bailey is a high-profile wedding planner for global elites, including Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. He told Page Six that he was "surprised" by Brooklyn's claims that the wedding day was filled with strain and interference from his parents, David and Victoria Beckham. According to Preston, Brooklyn was nice and gentle throughout the planning process. Additionally, he himself was deeply involved in the design and details of the ceremony. Recalling how they often used to have meetings and discussions at the Peltz family home, he said:
"It surprises me that he is taking this stand against his parents. That's not the Brooklyn I met, as far as him being this nice, gentle guy. He was just a nice, regular person who would say hello and chit-chat. While we were planning, he was clearly very involved in the design details. There was never any tension."
Further, the wedding planner explained that Brooklyn was hands-on and engaged in the creative process, carefully reviewing design presentations and actively participating in decisions. As per Preston, the atmosphere surrounding the wedding preparations was calm and collaborative. He admitted that based on his experience, there was no hint of a family discord until now, when Brooklyn revealed it years later.
There has been a lot of speculation online that Nicola Peltz may have been controlling Brooklyn behind the scenes. But Preston does not agrees with the narrative. He told the outlet he did not find her "bossy" and instead remembered "a lot of affection between them." He noted that whenever they presented designs to her, she always ensured that Brooklyn approved everything. In his words:
"She wasn't going to do anything without his approval."
At the same time, Preston did not have any direct contact with David or Victoria Beckham during the planning process and worked primarily with Brooklyn and Nicola. He was brought on board in April 2021 and stepped away nearly a year later due to scheduling conflicts, but he also organized the couple's engagement.
The situation about reconciliation between Brooklyn Beckham and his family remains unclear. Brooklyn has publicly stated that he does "not want to reconcile" with his parents. Meanwhile, sources close to the family told People that David and Victoria "love Brooklyn and are afraid of losing their son." Another insider alleged that the Beckhams would only consider mending ties if Nicola were no longer involved, something Brooklyn would not accept. Amid the narratives emerging from all sides, Brooklyn and Nicola's wedding, once a highly followed celebration of unity, has now become the center of a very public family divide.
