She admits that he was, overall, a good father to her. However, things changed between them after she found out that he was having an affair with her best friend. The singer also discussed their complicated bond and her feelings for him after his death in July 2025 at the age of 71.
According to Brooke Hogan, her bond with her father, Hulk Hogan, changed when she found out that he was romantically involved with her close friend, Christiane Plante. The latter had closely worked with Brooke during the making of her 2006 album Undiscovered. Although Hulk and his then-wife, Linda Hogan, had separated at the time, the news still had a major impact on Brooke.
Brooke Hogan revealed that she eventually forgave her father. Yet the emotional connect used to share with her father had changed permanently. Forgiveness came naturally to her, but looking back, the singer believes their bond never recovered from that incident. In fact, it changed how they saw their view of one another in the following years. In her words:
"A major turning point came after he slept with my friend Christiane. I forgive people very easily, sometimes probably too easily, and I forgave him, but something between us changed afterward. I don't think he ever related to me in quite the same way again."
Brooke also pointed out that her parents' highly publicized divorce added more to the chaos. Initially, she was her father's biggest support system while growing up. However, the end of Hulk and Linda's marriage emotionally damaged her, and she gradually distanced herself from him. Eventually, the father-daughter bond became strained.
Later, the reality TV personality and singer decided to step away from her family conflicts and controversies. In fact, she even removed herself from the matters of her father's property. Still, her difficult memories did not conceal her positive memories. Brooke values the moments from her childhood when the late wrestler was a loving and supportive father to her. At the end, there wasn't one specific moment that ended their relationship. Rather, it was years of emotional strain and unresolved issues that kept them pulling apart.
Despite their estranged bond, Brooke shared that she spoke to her father before his death. During that call, she ended their conversation by mentioning that she loved him. She believes that people can hold two truths at once. For instance, she loved her father but carried the hurt with her.
Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan, died on July 24, 2025. He suffered a heart attack at his home in Clearwater, Florida, at the age of 71. Soon, the emergency services were called for assistance, but despite their life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Later, the medical reports revealed that he was privately battling many health issues, like chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and atrial fibrillation, which caused an irregular heartbeat. During his final years, Hulk had also undergone multiple surgeries. It was due to the injuries he sustained throughout his career in professional wrestling. However, the wrestling icon always met fans and media with the same energy.
