'Bridgerton' returns this time, with the love story of the second-oldest son, Benedict Bridgerton, of the 'Bridgerton' clan. Let's take a look at what can be expected in season 4.
The Regent era-based show, Bridgerton, is set to release for season 4. The show returns this time, with the love story of the second eldest son, ‘Benedict Bridgerton’, of the Bridgerton clan. Let’s take a look at what can be expected in season 4.
One of Netflix’s most-watched series, Bridgerton, is going to release season 4 of the series on January 29, with part two releasing on February 26. Ever since the trailer was released, fans couldn't wait to watch their favourite ‘Lady Whistledown’ create chaos and mischief, but most importantly, return as the gossip queen of the OTT space.
The show is based on Victorian-era Britain, the Regent era, showing chivalrous and courteous men and sophisticated, beautiful girls with sharp and witty mothers and an observant Queen. With an array of posh families, beautiful girls and handsome men, this town is all about extravagant balls, expensive gowns, scandals, gossip and the thread that binds them together, ‘Lady Whistledown’.
The series will now revolve around the love story of the second-oldest son of the Bridgerton family, ‘Benedict’, and his love interest, ‘Sophie Baek’. The Bridgerton family is one of the town's most elite and designated families. As per the trailer, the story has a bit of a Cinderella touch to it and would pan out like Prince Charming looking for the girl with the missing satin glove. Although judging by the previous renditions of the series, it is not going to be a children’s fairy tale romance.
With promotions underway for the series, Netflix, along with the starcast and makers, hosted a fan event on January 14 where they talked about everything about what the story has in store for them, released the titles of the episodes, hosted questions and answer sessions and even aired the first episode in a secluded screening.
The event was flooded with fans who had registered beforehand and got to celebrate the release of Bridgerton. With Netflix facing technical difficulties and delays in the online streaming of the event, it was still a huge rollout. The show began by giving the fans the real-life experience of being in the town with ‘Lady Whistledown’, narrating how secrecy fuels desires and opens doors for something new and unexpected to come in.
The premiere began with her showing all the misconceptions and hidden stories behind the masks at the ball that the season is set on for ‘Benedict Bridgerton’. The newly released poster also gives us a fair idea of who the main attractions are in the season.
The anticipation and wait around this comes after two years of waiting for the fans, ever since they experienced the romance between ‘Colin' and ‘Penelope’ and the grand reveal that ‘Penelope’ was in fact ‘Lady Whistledown’.
‘Francesca Bridgerton’ and ‘John Stirling’, played by Hannah Dodd and Victor Alli, were shown as a calmer hint to the season’s bigger and louder storylines. Their love story focused on quiet moments, listening to each other, and mutual respect rather than dramatic romance, bringing a softer and slower feel.
The ‘Mondrichs’ step into high society and not just watch from the margins, but face the expectations that come with their new status. They run around with decisions like choosing the costume for the masquerade ball, which would show them as confident and equal participants and not just observers.
The season’s creative voices told the fans that the story does what it does best with slowly escalating romance bound by intimate moments, yearning to touch, soft glances and constant desperation to find moments of privacy. It focuses on the characters and claims that Ball plays an anchor to an otherwise quieter setting that will allow the romance between ‘Benedict’ and ‘Sophie’ to bloom.
The event also saw the creators release the runtime for part 1 of the series and episode titles for all the episodes that will be in both parts 1 and 2. They also spoke about what more is being added to the Bridgerton universe, including a podcast hosted by Alison Hammond. The podcast will have cast members and makers talk about the show and interact with the host. It will air from January 29 on Netflix, and the audio version will be available on major streaming platforms.
Having witnessed 3 of the swooniest romances in the previous seasons of the series, we can’t wait to see ‘Benedict’ the explorer and traveller find romance in the mysterious masked girl. The fans are quite excited for the yearning, the soft touches, the final confessions of love, the intimate moments bursting with emotions and most importantly, keeping everything discreet from the prying eyes of ‘Lady Whistledown’.
