The romantic series, Bridgerton Season 4 has finally got an emotional yet special ending. For the unversed, Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2 was released on March 24, 2026, which ended with 'Benedict Bridgerton' finding his forever with 'Sophie Baek'. Amid that buzz around their love story, the attention has shifted towards Season 5, which promises a fresh love story on 'Francesca Bridgerton'. Bridgerton Season 4 ends on a romantic note as 'Benedict's' love story finally gets a happy ending. After a season full of misunderstanding, class differences and personal struggles, 'Benedict Bridgerton' (played by Luke Thompson) fully accepts and embraces his love, 'Sophie Beak' (played by Yerin Ha). However, the story doesn't end there.
The season finale also sheds light on 'Lady Whistledown'. After controlling all the scandals in the previous seasons, 'Penelope' finally steps down and decides to close this chapter. Further, the ending of Season 4 also set the pace for the upcoming season by shedding light on 'Francesca Bridgerton's' married life with 'John Stirling'. Despite that, there is a complicated bond between 'Francesca' and 'Michaela'.
For those who do not know, Season 5 of Bridgerton has already been announced. However, it is worth noting that the official release date has not been announced neither by the makers nor by Netflix. If reports are to be believed, Jess Brownell, recently had a conversation with Decider, during which she explained that the filming of the upcoming season is expected to begin ‘soon’. Considering the production history of Bridgerton series, Season 5 is expected to release in 2027. In 2025, Jess told the Hollywood Reporter:
"We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language. And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace. We’re trying to speed up but somewhere in that range."
Bridgerton Season 5 is expected to be a different take on love. If reports are to be believed, the season will focus on the same sex relationship between 'Francesca Bridgerton' (Hannah Dodd) and 'Michaela Stirling' (played by Masali Baduza). However, the main twist is that 'Francesca' is married to 'John Stirling'. According to a report by Elle, Season 5 is inspired by the book, When He Was Wicked.
It is worth mentioning that Bridgerton Season 5 is expected to be more emotional and complex. Apart from this, it will also focus on loss, feeling guilty about being in love and learning to heal after feeling pain. In an interview with Us Weekly, the author, Julia Quinn had revealed her favourite love story. She was quoted as saying:
"I don’t necessarily know how they’re gonna spin it or write it or what they’re going to keep and change. I love [Eloise’s] story. [Sir Phillip has] two kids who she has got to wrangle, which is awesome. The fact that Eloise is going to have an instant family is awesome. His twins are pretty ruthless to her so I hope they keep stuff like that in."
Talking about the cast of Bridgerton Season 5, viewers can expect to see Claudia Jessie, Hannah Dodd, Florence Hunt and Will Tilston. Apart from them, the supporting cast will include Ruth Gemmell, Julie Andrews, Adjoa Andoh, Golda Rosheuvel and more. For those wondering about Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha, there are chances that they might still be a part of season 5, even though they found their happy ending.
