Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleIt was on June 13, 2026, when 21-year-old fitness enthusiast, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas died during Bungee jumping. The bungee cord was not attached to her, and she fell 130 feet from the Skeleton Bridge in Limeira, Sao Paulo. Now, recently, a 44-year-old hiker named Caio Rocha Aguiar Arrabal died while taking a selfie from the top of a rock in southeastern Brazil.
For the unversed, 44-year-old Caio Rocha Aguiar Arrabal was a hiker. He had been to the Pedra do Macaco trail in Maricá, located in Rio de Janeiro. The hiker climbed the exposed rock, which had dangerous terrain. Now, a video of his moments before his death went viral and netizens are in disbelief on how because of a selfie, Caio risked his life.
Caio Rocha Aguiar Arrabal, as seen in the clip, reportedly had finished taking pictures and attempted to climb down. The clip that went viral had Caio screaming, and a user wrote, "And doing what he loved is probably the way he wanted to go anyway. Who the hell is recording!? Maybe help the guy out! He risked it all for that selfie. I'm sure his family wished he didn't climb."
A fellow hiker reportedly recorded the video and was telling Caio to be 'careful'. A user seeing the clip wrote, "Based on the last few headlines out of Brazil that reached me in Europe. I'm assuming falling from high places is the primary cause of death in Brazil. Why do people do dumb shit for content, if you know the dangers why do them. Suicide by selfie. This person does not look very fit, so to attempt such a daring move seems shocking; where did that confidence come from?"
Well, reportedly, the woman who filmed the video had told Arrabal to be careful. He was reportedly acting as a trail guide for a bunch of hikers, but he reportedly did not have a license. During the investigation, it emerged that Arrabal tried to descend the rock but went to the wrong side. As a result, he lost his balance.
The emergency crew had to come from the Marica Civil Defence, and the local fire department reportedly launched a four-hour-long recovery operation. Due to the rough terrain and dense forest, rescuers had to use ropes and helicopters to find his body. Due to severe traumatic injuries, Arrabal died. It is worth mentioning that it has just been a month since 21-year-old Brazilian university student, Maria died when she bungee jumped from an unlicensed spot, fell 130 feet deep and died. All because of the crew who reportedly did not attach the important safety rope.
Now, recently, Arrabal met his death, all due to a reported selfie. Rescuers had tried all the climbing techniques and took aircraft to reach him. When he was found, he had already taken his last breath. This case is currently under investigation, and the civil police reportedly has not yet commented on it.
