Brad Pitt has claimed that Angelina Jolie first agreed to provide a broader range of financial documents in their Château Miraval lawsuit and later reversed that agreement just months before his attorneys asked the court to step in. The contested material pertains to the period from 2017 to 2019.
Citing RadarOnline's report on the filing, Pitt's lawyers assert she had initially agreed to furnish discovery responses and profit participation statements for a longer window, before changing her stance on February 23, 2026. According to his side, Jolie ultimately limited her production to profit participation statements and tax records for 2020 and 2021.
Brad Pitt’s legal team is now requesting that the court compel the earlier documents, arguing that Angelina Jolie’s earnings after their separation could be relevant to her stated rationale for selling her share in the French vineyard. His filing further notes that her representatives had allegedly agreed to submit sworn declarations addressing two discovery demands covering 2017 to 2021 along with the associated profit statements.
That understanding, his lawyers say, was withdrawn on February 23, 2026, after which she confined her disclosure to 2020 and 2021. Pitt's counsel also offered a way to resolve this part of the discovery dispute without obtaining the older records. They proposed to drop the requests if she formally acknowledged she was not under economic pressure before January 1, 2020, and that Pitt had not subjected her to economic coercion from 2017 to 2019.
The offer was declined, leaving the court to decide how much of the period between their 2016 separation and the eventual sale can be examined.
Angelina Jolie's attorneys argue that Brad Pitt is confusing two separate issues. Her filing clarifies that she never contended she was facing financial hardship, but that she wanted to separate her financial life from her estranged spouse. That position was outlined even before the latest reports on Pitt's motion.
Back in August 2026, a report claimed that Brad Pitt’s team was seeking details of her income from films, brand deals and other work after the separation, while her side maintained such private earnings would not establish why she sold her interest in Miraval. Jolie has also linked her decision to leave the winery to the breakdown of the marriage, noting she has not returned to Miraval since 2016.
In earlier submissions, the actress contended that discussions for Pitt to buy her stake failed because of a non-disclosure agreement she considered too expansive. Pitt has disputed that characterization and denied her allegations concerning his conduct.
