She is the daughter of the 90's macho man, Bollywood actor/producer, Sunil Shetty, and businesswoman Mana Shetty. She has a younger brother, Ahaan. Athiya, who has taken her first step in Bollywood with her debut movie, Hero, is a true daddy's girl. She is an ardent Bollywood fan, but never intended to face the camera. Athiya did a course in filmmaking from New York Film Academy.
