Bo Nix is among the young quarterbacks in the NFL who have been tipped to be one of the league’s future stars in the coming years. The 25-year-old quarterback’s journey in the NFL has been defined by constant reinvention and resilience so far. Born on February 25, 2000, in Arkansas, football has been a part of his life since birth, as he is the son of former Auburn quarterback, Patrick Nix.
Due to his early exposure to football, Bo Nix emerged as one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the US while studying at Pinson Valley High School in Alabama. From leading his team to a state championship to earning 11 top honours, Bo Nix was also named Alabama Mr. Football in 2018. In the following years, he played college football at Auburn University (2019-2021) and the University of Oregon (2022-2023).
During this phase, Bo Nix burst into the scene as a freshman in 2019, but an injury in his final season ended his Auburn tenure. However, when he went to Oregon, he revitalized his career and, in the 2023 season, led the Ducks to the Pac-12 Championship. He was third in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2023 and also became the Ducks' all-time leader in completion percentage and ranked high in passing yards and touchdowns. During his time at Oregon, he flourished as a player under the guidance of head coach, Dan Lanning.
Courtesy of his impressive numbers in college football, Bo Nix was selected by the Denver Broncos in the first round (12th overall) during the 2024 NFL Draft. At the beginning, there were questions around his potential, but after becoming their starter as a rookie, he led the team to its first playoff appearance since 2015. In the 2025 NFL season so far, he has established himself as a reliable option under center for the Denver Broncos, showcasing accuracy and leadership.
Moving into Bo Nix’s personal life, he is married to the love of his life, Izzy Smoke. The couple met in June 2020, while studying together at Auburn University. After becoming friends, they came close and started dating. During their university days, Izzy supported and cheered for her then-boyfriend, now-husband, in his football matches. Apart from his winning days, she played an important role in lifting his spirit when the young SEC quarterback was going through a rough patch.
Even after entering the NFL, Izzy Smoke remained his biggest source of emotional support. The couple made their relationship public in early 2021, after Bo Nix proposed to Izzy at Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium. After graduating in May 2022, Bo Nix and Izzy Smoke married on July 2, 2022, in Alpine, Alabama. Finally, in October 2025, the couple announced their first pregnancy, leaving their fans absolutely delighted.
Regarding Izzy Smoke’s profession, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Auburn University. She has worked as a fitness coach at F45 Training. In the NFL fandom, Bo Nix and Izzy have a different place, as they prefer to stay grounded and out of reach of shutterbugs.
