#1. Naimisha Forest

Naimisha forest or Naimisaranya was an ancient forest lay on the banks of Gomti River, between the Panchala kingdom and the Kosala kingdom. The whole narration of ‘Mahabharata’ took place at Naimisha forests, during a conclave of sages headed by sage Saunaka, who gathered for a sacrifice to the cause of world peace. By train: It is connected by train from Balamau, district Hardoi on the Balamau-Sitapur Branch Line on the Lucknow-Delhi main line of Northern Railway.

By road: It falls on the Lucknow-Delhi National Highway (No. 24), about 50 kilometres from Lucknow to Sidhauli on the NH 24 and about 38 kilometres on the Sidhauli-Naimisaranya state highway. There is a regular bus service between Sitapur and Hardoi via Naimisaranya.

By air: The nearest airport is Amausi Airport, Lucknow, and from there by road to Naimisaranya.

#2. Bhitarkanika Mangroves

For ones who want a wedding surrounded by beaches, this is the most suited site. These wetlands of Odisha cover an area of 650km sq. by the delta of Brahmani and Baitarani rivers. These mangroves harbour crocodiles, rhesus monkeys, leopards, fishing cats, jungle cats, small Indian civet cats and many other interesting animals. Gahirmatha Beach, which separates the mangroves from the Bay of Bengal and is an important nesting beach for Olive Ridley Sea Turtles, is also a part of these mangroves.

Situated in Kokilamukh, Jorhat district, Assam, this is a perfect spot for a jungle wedding. The forest spread over 550 hectares, is home to several thousand trees. Bamboo covers an area of over 300 hectares in this forest.

Jadav Payeng, an environmental activist, planted and tended trees on a sandbar of the Brahmaputra River turning this forest reserve into a marvellous location. Nearest stations and entry point to this place are Jorhat, Golaghat and Sivasagar.
