'Berlin' Season 2 features a new heist executed by the lead character and his gang. Notably, the new series is a spin-off of another popular Netflix show, 'Money Heist.'
Money Heist built a big and separate fan base when it arrived on Netflix years ago. But the spin-off, Berlin, also received a similar response. The makers even followed a different strategy, bringing each season of the spin-off as a miniseries. It explores the past of 'Berlin,' a character that was also featured in Money Heist. The second season of Berlin premiered on May 15, 2026, with all eight episodes released on the same day.
The new installment continues from where the previous one ended. 'Damian' plans a heist at the Marbella bank. However, 'Berlin' suggests stealing the coffers of a wealthy duke, 'Alvaro Hermoso de Medina.' Things change when 'Berlin' finds that 'Alvaro' wants a favour in return, which is a painting called Lady with an Ermine, made by Leonardo Da Vinci. On the other hand, 'Berlin' has his own hidden intentions. Keep reading to know what exactly happens at the end of Season 2!
The stealing of the painting is undoubtedly the main focus of the storyline. But 'Berlin' also plans to steal USD 75 million from an underground safe, owned by 'Alvaro.' 'Berlin' and the gang also enter the secret painting collection of 'Alvaro' and ensure that they don’t leave any evidence behind. 'Berlin' has already put forward his demands in front of 'Alvaro' if he needs to bring the painting. On the other hand, certain complications remain.
The underground safe will harm anyone who tries to open it. 'Roi' and 'Bruce' are told to wait in between the flames until there is no oxygen supply, and the latter manages to bear it for a long time. 'Damian' and the rest of the team eventually escape without doing any big damage. 'Berlin' is also warned by his brother, 'The Professor,' about his plans, saying that everything might not happen as per his expectations. 'The Professor' also tells 'Berlin' to accumulate the evidence of the crimes committed by 'Alvaro.'
'Berlin' undoubtedly has a job to steal a painting. While he finds a big collection, 'Berlin' decides to secretly send them to the museums instead of keeping them for himself. Notably, the museums are spotted celebrating after the stolen pieces are returned to them. The major reason behind the heist is that 'Berlin' hates 'Alvaro' for everything that he has done to the paintings. But the most unique piece among them is the Lady with an Ermine. 'Berlin' even refers to Lady with an Ermine in one of the scenes, saying that it is expected to be purchased at a very low value. Moreover, the show reveals that the real painting was sold to the Polish government around ten years ago.
Another character that plays an important role in the progress of the storyline is 'Samuel.' He is a bodyguard, but he decides to maintain silence, despite knowing about the heist. 'Samuel' initially discovers the gang’s plan to put a surveillance device at 'Alvaro’s' residence. The reason for 'Samuel’s' actions is something unexpected. 'Samuel' loves 'Alvaro,' and he does not like the fact that 'Alvaro' is more attracted to his wife and the painting collection.
While 'Alvaro' loses all the paintings, 'Duchess Genoveva' decides to end everything between them and leave her husband alone forever. 'Alvaro' then asks 'Sam' to come to bed. This moment also explains a lot of other things that had happened. The situations hint that 'Genoveva' and 'Damian’s' relationship was intentional, and the former might have given the keys to the coffers.
As mentioned, 'Genoveva' leaves 'Alvaro.' She even sends a letter to her husband, without revealing anything else. Since she and 'Damian' already shared a bond with each other, she goes back to him. However, 'Genoveva' must keep herself safe so that the secrets are not revealed. 'Damian' reveals at this point that he has something on his mind for that. 'Damian' then shows his real face, a quantum physics professor, who also has a criminal mind. 'Damian' asks 'Genoveva' to join him. 'Cameron' dies, bringing a different mood to the show. But 'Berlin' and 'Candela' are getting married, and 'Camille' has also been invited after she seemingly moved on from the relationship she had with 'Berlin.'
