Belinda Bencic's husband, Martin Hromkovic, is a former footballer who played as a defender in his glorious 17-year career. He was born in Slovakia on May 27, 1982. He started his career with FK Inter Bratislava, but spent most of his career at OFC Russell Gabcikovo. After a long, fulfilling career in football and enjoying the limelight, he switched his journey and became a fitness and conditioning coach. He even got a master's degree from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia.
As per reports, Martin's job as a fitness coach helped in brewing his love with Belinda Bencic. The couple met each other in 2018. While initially their relationship was professional, Martin was appointed as Belinda's strength and conditioning coach. However, it was during the rigorous training sessions in Slovakia that they felt the sparks of love. It was Belinda who revealed that it was unexpected but an ideal situation, and how they could be together. In 2022, Belinda was quoted as saying:
"It came a little unexpectedly, but it’s an ideal situation. When I work on fitness in Slovakia, we can be together. As a tennis professional, relationships are so difficult. I do not see my best friend until half a year later. You never see another tennis player. A man waiting at home — no chance!"
It is worth mentioning that the couple share a huge age gap of 14 years. As of 2026, Martin is 43 years old, and Belinda is 29. Belinda revealed that Martin wants the best for her, and he often travels, and she is grateful for his support. She added that they can separate private and professional life, as when they work, she sees him as a coach. She said:
"Martin wants the best for me for my private life and sport. He often travels, I’m very grateful for his support! Fortunately, we can separate private and professional life well. When I work, I really see him as a coach. I hope it stays that way. For him, the job is done when I’m fit. Martin was an athlete himself, a footballer. So he understands well when I’m nervous or tense."
Apart from being an ace tennis player, Belinda is happily married to Martin. The couple got engaged in 2023, and at the same time, they announced that they were expecting their first child. Later, their manager revealed that Belinda and Martin got married without any fanfare. The couple welcomed their first child in April 2024, a daughter, whom they have named Bella.
