A 26-year-old makeup artist, Ava Gillies, passed away on July 29, 2026, in a horrific car crash. Her passing has left many in shock, as her car crashed with another vehicle on a country road in Wrelton, England, at around 1:30 a.m., according to North Yorkshire Police. As soon as authorities reached the accident scene, she was pronounced dead.

Ava Gillies' last Instagram post goes viral 

Ava Gillies' last Instagram post was shared on July 1, 2026. It was a carousel post from Ireland, wherein she talked about not knowing the concept of being jealous. Her post can be read as:

"I’d never explored the concept of being jealous of yourself, but the me, right now in Ireland, is sick to death of me from two months ago."

Netizens flooded the comments section of her post with heartfelt tribute messages. One of her colleagues expressed gratitude for working with her and wrote, "Rip Ava, I can't believe it. It was an absolute pleasure to know you and work with you. You were a light that lit up the room, and I genuinely looked forward to the day we would work together again."

Another user penned, "RIP, thank you for bringing us the beauty in the Barbie Movie." A third user commented, "It's always sad to know that a positive and young person leaves so soon, even without knowing her. Rest in peace, beautiful."

Who was Ava Gillies? 

Ava Gillies was a makeup artist, and she had worked in film and television for over five years. She was even known for contributing to the films Barbie, Wonder Woman 1984, and Belfast. Apart from this, she was part of TV shows such as Band of Spies, Bridgerton, and The Crown.

Talking about her passing, North Yorkshire Police penned a tribute for her family, remembering their daughter and stating everyone would miss her and her wit, her charm, and her beauty. They recalled her work as a makeup artist. The statement can be read as:

"Ava, we will always, always miss you, your wit, your charm, your beauty, your feisty confidence, your many talents and your excellence in your field: hair & makeup for film and TV. In almost 27 years with us, you packed in so much: study, travel, and work. It was a privilege to have raised you and loved you. What’s becoming clearer with every passing day is you were loved by so many people outside the family, your friends and the community in which you were raised."

The tribute post also talked about how they had been receiving cards and messages from people with whom Ava had worked, as they expressed their love and respect for her. The post continued:

"We take great comfort from the comments, cards and messages from people within the film industry and their expressions of love and respect for your talent. Our family will be forever grateful for the help, love and support we have received from our village, family and friends at this time."

It is worth adding that the family is still planning the funeral details of their daughter, and they will announce it soon.
