Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleBobby Deol’s much-awaited film, Bandar, has started streaming on ZEE5. Helmed by Anurag Kashyap, the crime drama centers around 'Samar Mehra', an affluent actor, who is accused of a major crime. Apart from Bobby, the film features a strong ensemble cast consisting of Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Sapna Pabbi, and Indrajith Sukumaran. Bobby is in his best form and received a lot of applause for his performance. Amid the film’s OTT release, let’s take a look at the cast’s fees.
According to multiple reports, Bandar was made on a budget of Rs. 130 crore. And Bobby Deol, who plays the role of ‘Samar’ in the movie, reportedly took home a massive paycheck of Rs. 45 crore. After the widespread success of his performance in Animal, Bobby Deol continues to surprise audiences with his performance in Bandar.
However, for his titular role, Bobby didn’t increase his fee as the project genuinely excited him as an actor. Speaking to Wion News, Bobby revealed the reason behind not increasing his fee for Bandar and said:
“I didn't increase my fee for this film. When a project truly excites me as an actor, money isn't the first thing I think about. What drew me in was the opportunity to play such a real, grounded character. Anurag wasn't looking for theatrics or embellishment—he wanted honesty and authenticity. Working with him felt like being part of an acting workshop. Every single day on set, I learned something new.”
Apart from Bobby, the film includes three women: Saba Azad, Sanya Malhotra, and Sapna Pabbi. Sanya Malhotra essayed the role of Bobby’s sister and was paid Rs. 60 lakhs for her performance. Saba Azad, who played Bobby’s girlfriend, took home a paycheck of Rs. 70 lakhs.
Another pivotal character in the film was Sapna Pabbi, who played Bobby’s ex-girlfriend. She accuses him of rape, and the entire film is based on her single allegation. For her brilliant role, Sapna was paid around Rs. 1.3 crore. The film also stars Raj B Shetty and Jitendra Joshi in important roles. Raj earned Rs. 40 lakhs and Jitendra received approximately Rs. 1 crore.
Bobby Deol plays a singer-actor whose fame is fading. Just as he prepares to settle in his life with his younger girlfriend, ‘Khushi’, played by Saba Azad, Samar’s ex-girlfriend, ‘Gayatri’, played by Sapna Pabbi, returns and wishes to be back in his life. Unwilling to have a relationship with her, Samar avoids her, without realizing how his life was going to turn upside down.
'Gayatri' accuses 'Samar' of rape and files a complaint against him. Soon, he is taken into custody and forced to navigate one hurdle after another. He was seen desperately trying to prove that he never raped the woman and that there was consent. But the corrupt judicial system didn’t believe his words, and he was caught in a legal battle. Anurag used real-life testimonies as the subject of his film, including that of an innocent man who spent 32 years in prison before his case was ever brought to trial.
