In a recent interview, Ashish Chanchlani broke his silence over the backlash he received following his fake relationship act with Elli AvrRam.
Ashish Chanchlani is widely known for his comic content on YouTube. He is currently hogging the limelight for his directorial debut web series, Ekaki. However, earlier this year, in July 2025, the YouTuber made headlines with his rumoured relationship with Elli AvrRam. However, later, the duo clarified that it was just for the promotion of their music video, Chandaniya. However, the fake relationship prank didn’t go well with the netizens. Now, Ashish broke his silence over the backlash received due to their false act.
In a recent interview with Times Now, Ashish Chanchlani shared that he would never do anything similar to the fake relationship act that he did for the promotion of their music video, Chandaniya. The YouTuber then went on to say that he thought that the prank would become wholesome. However, things went downhill and turned dark for him and Elli AvrRam. Ashish also shared the conversation he had with Elli after the duo faced backlash online. He was quoted as saying:
"I would never do that thing in my life again. I was not expecting the attacks on Elli. It was a very fun prank, and I thought it would become wholesome. It suddenly became very dark for me and Elli. I told Elli, 'Let's can it and aage badhte hai. I will reply to these trolls also if you want'. She specifically told me not to go and just concentrate on the song. That's the energy she gave me."
Further in the interview, Ashish talked about his and Elli AvrRam’s reaction to the whole criticism following their fake relationship prank. The YouTuber shared that Elli told him to just enjoy the moment. He mentioned that they ignored the things and focused on their work. Ashish then explained how they handled the whole criticism. He was quoted as saying:
"She just asked me to enjoy this moment. We just ignored it and focused on our work. There are two things that we need to identify: criticism and hatred. Our well-wishers will always criticise us. Just take it. But we can identify hatred on the basis of the comments we get. Once you identify it, just ignore it. I always reply to criticism."
In an interview with Zoom, Elli opened up about the harsh remarks received after her picture with YouTuber, Ashish Chanchlani went viral. She particularly reacted to the 'body count' remark. For the unversed, after the snap featuring Ashish and Elli went viral, many users pointed out the latter’s relationship and made the 'body count' remark.
In the interview, Elli shared that she had no idea about the meaning of the word 'body count' until her GenZ friends explained it to her. While Elli was attacked by the trolls, it was influencer, Uorfi Javed who backed her and slammed the trolls. Elli explained how it is always the women who get attacked in such cases. She was quoted as saying:
"Body count stands for something else, which, honestly, even I didn't know what it meant until my Gen-Z people explained to me what body count means. The number of people that you have been physically with, that's what it means. That's why it was very nasty. Of course, Uorfi gave that statement, and it was really sweet of her. She's that one person who really speaks up. I feel it always happens with women. It never happens with men. It's always us; we are the demons."
