During the interview, Arjun credited his half-sisters, Janhvi and Khushi, for the improved bond between him and Boney. Arjun added that if he had not shared a loving bond with Janhvi and Khushi, he would have resented many things and never felt the need to reconnect with his dad. In his words:

"I've not lived with my father as much as I would have liked to. I keep getting told that I am like him, but I don't see it. Through meeting Janhvi and Khushi, and breaking that barrier, I have now been able to build a more authentic relationship with him. We have all confronted many of our demons. But I love my father more because of both of them. It is complex. I have been able to see my father in a different light. If I didn't share this equation with Janhvi and Khushi, I would have resented many things and never felt the need to reconnect with him at this level."

Later, in 2024, Arjun sat for a candid conversation with Raj Shamani on his podcast. During the podcast, the Ki & Ka actor mentioned that when he was just 10, his parents parted ways. Due to this, he had emotional turmoil in his childhood. He stated that when his parents had a split, his father was busy with his films. Explaining their complex bond that eventually got better, Arjun said:

"My parents split up when I was 10 years old. My father was busy making two big films when that was happening. He was making Prem and Roop Ki Rani Choro Ka Raja. He was under a lot of pressure to complete those films and release them. So, we never had a normal father-son relationship where he came to school to pick me up or drop me off. It’s not that he didn’t try, but I never had that, and then the split happened also. Now, I have an equation with him when I spend a lot more time with him, but I’m 39. Over the last five years, I have spent more time with him."
