The show premiered on September 6, 2026, and introduced a new group of contestants who will compete for the grand trophy. While the show has attracted attention, some viewers already have strong opinions about the participants.
Amid that, one contestant has caught everyone's attention: Arishfa Khan, with a social media following larger than that of several established Bollywood and South Indian film stars.
Arishfa Khan is an actress and content creator who is now making headlines for her participation in Bigg Boss 20. She is one of the youngest contestants on the show. She was born in 2003 and began acting as a child artist, making her debut in 2012 with the TV show Chhal – Sheh Aur Maat and later gained recognition for her role in Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera.
Regarding her personal life, Arishfa Khan's mother was a stuntwoman who often took her on set. It was during her time there that Arishfa developed a passion for acting and went on to appear in several popular television shows, including Jeannie Aur Juju, Uttaran, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Gangaa and Meri Durga. Arishfa got her first leading role in 2018 in the show Papa By Chance, which aired on Star Bharat.
In a 2020 interview with Humans of Bombay, Arishfa Khan reflected on her journey in showbiz. She revealed that her mother was extremely proud of her when she got her first lead role. She was quoted as saying:
"In 2018, when I got my first lead show, Mom hugged me and cried. People would say, 'A stuntwoman's daughter has become a heroine,' and it made Mom swell with pride. There was no stopping after that– at 14, I even played a married woman. It was really hard for me to emote, but I'd observe all the aunties and copy their style to make my character more believable!"
After Arishfa Khan established herself in the entertainment industry, she decided to switch paths, leaning more towards digital content and building a large following on social media. She became extremely popular in the early days of TikTok in India, eventually creating short-form videos. She has since expanded her discography, featuring in music videos, while continuing to create content online.
Her social media content includes GRWM videos, travel vlogs, trend-based videos and other lifestyle content. She currently has around 29.1 million followers on Instagram, putting her ahead of several major Indian film stars. For those who don't know, she has more followers than Kareena Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Allu Arjun and Prabhas. Arishfa's following is notable, given that she is 23 and has not appeared in major theatrical films.
Her popularity has largely come from television and digital content, where she has built an audience over the years. Arishfa Khan has now entered the Bigg Boss 20 house as one of the 16 contestants, and there, too, she has the largest Instagram following. The second-highest number of followers belongs to YouTuber and esports player Tanmay Singh, who has around 7.3 million followers. This season's theme is 'extra jeevan daan'. 'Bigg Boss' has told the contestants that they have two lives, giving them an additional chance to avoid elimination.
