Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleDetroit anchor Taryn Asher has found herself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. For those who don't know, a video of Taryn in a heated confrontation with a colleague has surfaced. It was captured while she was filming a public service announcement at WJBK-TV Fox 2 Detroit.
She was reportedly taken off the air in November 2025 and later fired after the incident. Now, as her clip brings renewed focus on her firing, here's a look at what actually happened behind the scenes, according to Taryn.
When Taryn Asher was fired from Fox 2, they told her that it was because of her “behavior in the newsroom.” However, her lawyer, Matthew Turner, called the explanation “ridiculous” and insisted that the real reason behind Taryn’s firing was gender discrimination. He said that Taryn was pushed out after she raised concerns about unequal treatment compared to her male colleagues.
While Taryn was still working at Fox 2, she was responsible for helping the station’s newscasts at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. As fans noticed she was off the air since November 2025, many were left confused, and adding to the mystery, neither the anchor nor the station leadership explained why she had vanished from the broadcasts.
Only later was it revealed that Taryn Asher complained about being treated differently from her male counterparts. For instance, this included disparities in assignments, scheduling, as well as guest bookings. Her lawyer claimed that she was fired after she decided to retaliate against the unfair treatment.
As per reports, she filed a complaint with the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In the complaint, Taryn noted how the station reduced her responsibilities, accused her of unprofessional conduct, and launched what her legal team said was a baseless investigation.
At the time, her lawyer said that she was seeking reinstatement or financial compensation. He added, “She devoted her whole professional life to working there. She was really devastated by what happened.”
A Michigan State graduate, Taryn seemingly referred to the situation she was going through in a February 2026 post on Instagram. She claimed that she was dealing with an “unexpected work-related matter” and wrote:
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and kindness these past 3 months. I miss connecting with you each day. I'm thoughtfully working through an unexpected work-related matter. Grateful for time away with loved ones. I hope to see you soon.”
It is worth mentioning that in her personal life, Taryn Asher was also going through significant turbulence as she was finalizing her divorce from former Detroit TV personality Jason Carr. The duo crossed paths while working at the FointvTV station. They tied the knot in 2007 and later welcomed a daughter together.
The video of Taryn, which is currently going viral on social media, captures a disagreement over the scripts and the process of getting ready. The anchor can be seen expressing her frustration when she had to wait for scripts to be reviewed before she could proceed.
Soon, the exchange escalates to a whole new level when Taryn accuses her co-worker of walking off mid-conversation angrily. Calling the person a “bitch” and saying that she was done with her antics, Taryn said:
“I don’t think you are. You’re walking out really angry. Bitch. Can I please finish what I’m going to say? What the fuck. Grow up. I’m so done with her antics, telling on me every five seconds. I’m done.”
