On March 14, 2023, Ananya Panday attended her cousin, Alanna Panday's mehendi function, and in one of the pictures, she was spotted smoking a cigarette. Though the picture was deleted from Instagram, a netizen was quick to take a screengrab of the same and shared it on Reddit. The actress was seen standing in one corner and holding a cigarette in her hand while the other wedding guests gathered to celebrate. Sharing the picture, the Reddit user penned:

As soon as the picture was shared on Reddit, netizens were left in utter shock as they couldn't believe their eyes. They started expressing their emotions regarding the shocking visual of Ananya smoking a cigarette and even trolled her for the same. While one user penned, “Meri ananya aisi nhi ho sakti,” another user commented, “Dimag toh nahi hota yinlogo ke paas. Sirf cool dikhna hai”. Talking about Ananya Panday's look at the event, she looked gorgeous in a baby pink-hued pleated skirt.
