The 83-year-old star had some serious medical issues and needed immediate medical attention. The exact date when he was admitted isn't publicly known; however, Big B himself provided an update on his condition. His worried fans immediately took to his social media comments, sharing their wishes for his speedy recovery.
Amitabh Bachchan took to his personal blog and revealed that he was recently hospitalised. The Shahenshah actor generated immense concern among his fans as he shared the details of his medical emergency. Amitabh told his fans through a written statement that he was in the ICU and underwent surgery. He, however, didn't mention what exactly happened to him or how long he had to stay in the hospital. The kind of surgery he had and the time of arrival and departure from the medical centre are also not publicly known.
Amitabh Bachchan's words, however, made fans feel that something serious might have happened to him as he shared feeling "defeat" staring at him while he was battling the ailment. He pointed out the uncertainty of life, where one is highly revered at one moment and can lose to life the very next moment. Sharing an update on his condition, the Pink actor mentioned he was discharged from the hospital and is currently recovering in his home. Lauding the medical professionals for their best efforts, he stated:
"...in Hospital in a surgery and in the ICU, under the care of proficient Doctors and medical Staff .. a discharge .. and a homecoming .. this period is the most difficult phase .. physically, psychologically and practically .."
Big B is back in his Mumbai residence, but he is still struggling with his health. He called the recovery period "the most difficult phase of your life." Amitabh shared that the hospitalisation affected him both physically and mentally. He was yet to get past it; however, he was striving his best to do so quickly. He also shared, in a philosophical tone, how some can overcome such situations while others are not. The brave ones who are successful in doing so are labelled "Champions", while the rest perish. Showcasing resilience to fight the ailment, he wrote:
"...you are a revered Champion and one day a defeat stares at you .. this is the most difficult phase of your life .. Some brave it .. some succumb .. they that strive and be brave ever remain Champions .. they that do not, get reconciled and live, exist in the past glory .. a choice each makes individually .. be well be happy."
Amitabh Bachchan has several projects lined up for 2026-27. He has worked and is currently involved in a total of four projects. He is actively filming the highly anticipated sequel to Nag Ashwin's blockbuster, Kalki 2 or Kalki 2898 AD. He has wrapped up or is in the post-production segment for the legal drama Section 84, which will hit the silver screen in November 2026. Big B is also part of Brahmastra Part Two: Dev, which is slated for a theatrical release in December 2026. Amitabh's latest project is director Ram Gopal Varma-helmed Sarkar 4.
Ram Gopal officially announced the film in March 2026, and its production began in the following month. The film hasn't received an official release date yet; however, it has generated significant buzz, as it will reportedly feature the father-son duo, Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.
