As per a recent report, Akshaye Khanna quit 'Drishyam 3' after he demanded to wear a wig in the film.
Akshaye Khanna is leading the headlines for his stellar performance in Dhurandhar. The actor, who portrayed the role of ‘Rehman Dakait’ managed to stand out in the elaborate star cast of the film. The film has been unstoppable, making Akshaye one of the biggest names in 2025. However, recent reports of Akshaye’s exit from the much-awaited project Drishyam 3, came as a disappointment to his fans.
As per the latest reports, Akshaye’s exit from the film happened because of creative differences. As per an insider, Akshaye demanded to wear a wig for the film, which didn’t sit well with the makers. As per the source:
“One of them was that Akshaye suggested that he'd like to wear a wig. The makers were not comfortable with the idea, probably because he was without a wig in the second part.”
Akshaye Khanna’s nuanced characters have been gaining a lot of attention. The recent success of his films Chhaava and Dhurandhar, Akshaye revised his fee and demanded Rs. 21 crores for his role in Drishyam 3. However, his sudden fee hike came as a shock to the makers, who couldn’t comply with Akshaye’s demands. According to the source:
“Akshaye decided to revise his fees. Accordingly, he asked for Rs 21 crore from the makers of Drishyam 3. The makers of Drishyam 3 were taken aback. They tried to reason with him that if he's paid a bomb, the film would go over-budget. But Akshaye Khanna felt that he was justified in his demand. He knew that his presence now significantly enhanced the excitement for a film.”
It was definitely Akshaye Khanna’s year. His role in Aditya Dhar’s most-awaited film, Dhurandhar, has been hogging the limelight due to his razor-sharp dialogue delivery and stellar on-screen presence. The actor portrayed the role of popular gangster, 'Rehman Dakait', a powerful politician and d**g smuggler. Sharing details about hiring Akshaye for this role, casting director Mukesh Chhabra told Moneycontrol that Akshaye’s aura and unique charm brought authenticity to the character.
Actress, Saumya Tandon played Akshaye Khanna’s wife in Dhurandhar. She took to her IG handle and shared a note on working with Akshaye in Dhurandhar. Saumya recalled the emotional scene where her on-screen son’s death was featured. She shared that in that scene, she felt everything at once. She opened up about the anger that she vented on her on-screen husband and revealed that she had slapped Akshaye for real during his close-up shot.
