Ajith Kumar is a well-established name when it comes to regional cinema. Over the years, Ajith has made his place in action-based films, and fans lovingly call him 'Thala'. Besides being a phenomenal actor, Ajith is a professional car racer. Ajith, who is currently part of the Asian Le Mans Series endurance race, recently strongly reacted to a crazy fan who screamed 'Thala' at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Ajith Kumar loses cool over a fan's unruly behaviour

Ajith Kumar, who is taking part in the four-hour endurance race as part of the Yas Speed Festival, recently lost his cool due to a fan’s unruly behaviour. The fan repeatedly called him 'Thala' at the global event, at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Soon, the video featuring Ajith went viral on social media, where he was seen telling the fan, "Please behave yourself. This is not a theatre. Please."

Actor, Sivakarthikeyan and director, Venkat Prabhu laud Ajith Kumar ahead of the racing event

On February 7, 2026, the Amaran fame took to his Instagram handle and shared a heartfelt note for Ajith Kumar. In the note, Sivakarthikeyan shared how much he looks up to Ajith. He praised the car racer for his passion, commitment, dedication and resilience. He wrote:

"Pure passion, commitment, dedication and resilience - experienced it live, felt the adrenaline rush. An inspiring day spent with an inspiring person. Always look up to you, my dear #AK sir."

On the same day, director, Venkat Prabhu, who worked with Ajith Kumar in the film, Mankatha, also praised him. He shared a note where he mentioned that Ajith has an immense love for the sport. He highlighted that the actor and car racer has been very disciplined about the same. He wrote:

"What we carefully stage with cameras, he chooses to live for real. No retakes. No stunt doubles. No safety net of cinema. Just courage, discipline, and an uncompromising love for the sport. Seeing @ajithkumarracing on the #yasmarinacircuit shook me in a way words can't explain. This is beyond imagination. Beyond cinema. This is a man who lives his truth #ak #Thala."

Ajith Kumar made his acting debut in 1990 with the film, En Veedu En Kanavar. Over the years, he won several accolades, including four Vijay Awards, three Cinema Express Awards, three Filmfare Awards South and three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. In 2025, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan Award, India’s third-highest civilian honour. In a 2025 interview with India Today, Ajith called himself an 'accidental' actor. He shared that at the age of 18, he had started racing motorcycles. He was quoted as saying:

"Acting was never on my radar. I am an accidental actor. After school, I started working in an auto manufacturing company for about six months. I was 18 when I started racing motorcycles… Then, before I started realising, I started doing print ads and TV commercials."

Coming to his personal life, Ajith is happily married to Shalini, his co-star from the film, Amarkalam. The couple tied the knot on April 24, 2000 and have completed 25 years of togetherness. It was an interfaith marriage, as Ajith belongs to a Hindu Brahmin family and Shalini belongs to a Christian family. On April 28, 2025, before the award ceremony took place, the ‘IT’ couple of Kollywood was seen dancing while lost in each other's eyes. While Ajith received the Padma Bhushan award, his family felt proud and beamed with joy. The couple shares two children, a daughter, Anoushka and a son, Aadvik.
