Adrija Roy and Vignuesh Iyer are all set to tie the knot soon. Amid that, the actress revealed the real reason behind saying 'yes' to her longtime boyfriend.
Television actress, Adrija Roy, who is best-known for her role in the popular show, Anupamaa is all set to start a new and beautiful chapter of her life. For those who do not know, Adrija recently got engaged to Vignuesh Iyer in an intimate ceremony, which was held at a farmhouse in Maharashtra. Well, now, the actress revealed the real reason behind saying 'yes' to marriage.
Recently, during a candid chat with the Times of India, actress, Adrija Roy opened up about the bond she shares with her to-be-husband. Adrija revealed that she and Vignuesh first met at a party, which was hosted by their common friends. Adrija further recalled her first conversation with Vignuesh, after which she felt an instant connection. Adrija Roy was quoted as saying:
"Vignuesh is grounded, kind and refreshingly different from the world I belong to. Vignuesh’s family runs a farm that shelters nearly 270 stray dogs, and his father believes dogs are nothing less than divine. I could instantly connect with someone who had so much empathy for the helpless."
Further, in the interview, Adrija Roy also revealed the real reason behind saying ‘yes’ to her to-be-husband, Vignuesh Iyer. Talking about her relationship, Adrija shared that after meeting at a party, she and Vignuesh started dating by June 2025. She revealed that their relationship was not a traditional affair, but a bond which was built on mutual respect and understanding. Further, she revealed that the reason she said 'yes' to Vignuesh was his pure heart and a best-friend-like vibe. In her words:
"Our bond grew naturally, and by June 2025 we were dating seriously. It wasn’t a traditional family affair, but a mutual promise built on understanding and respect. He has a beautiful heart. Our thought processes match, and the relationship has a more best-friend-like vibe."
The Anupamma actress also revealed that she and Vignuesh share a similar love for food. Adrija Roy explained that Vignuesh is an amazing cook and they share the same love for Bengali, Marathi and South Indian cuisines. Adrija also stated that at her wedding with Vignuesh, the two will honour both Bengali and South Indian traditions. Adrija Roy shared:
"We’re both hardcore non-vegetarians and love Bengali, Marathi, and South Indian cuisine. I’m Bengali, Vignuesh is South Indian, and we’ll honour both traditions during our wedding, which will be a destination affair."
On January 27, 2026, Adrija Roy shared a series of photos from her engagement. In the photos, the actress was seen wearing a red-toned Kanjivaram saree with temple jewels, sheen makeup and braided hairstyle. On the other hand, Vignuesh opted for a blue-toned kurta with white dhoti. The two looked madly in love with each other. Reportedly, they will tie the knot within one to two years.
Talking about Adrija Roy, she is an Indian television actress, who was reportedly born on July 4, 1999, in Kolkata. She made her debut in 2016 with the Bengali show, Bedini Moluar Kotha. Over the years, she appeared in projects like Potol Kumar Gaanwala, Durga Durgeshwari, Jai Kali Kalkattawali, Mou Er Bari, Bikram Betaal, Durga Aur Charu, Kundali Bhagya and Anupamaa. On the other hand, Vignuesh Iyer is a restaurateur.
