Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay are set to tie the knot at Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in Bath on December 27, 2025.
Olympic swimming champion, Adam Peaty, and his celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay's daughter, Holly Ramsay, are just a few days away from saying "I do". The young couple is set to take their vows at the historic Bath Abbey on December 27, 2025. But before the duo could step into a new phase of their life, their winter wedding had become one of the most-talked-about events in the wedding season 2025, not just for their star-studded guest list, but even for the controversies surrounding the big day. Amid speculations about family feud and legal cases, the couple has received backlash from the general public before their big day. Here's why.
According to The Sun, Adam and Holly have reportedly booked Bath Abbey for the entire day, despite their wedding ceremony lasting only around 90 minutes. The sources at the Abbey claimed that the historic church has been reserved for an "all-day booking." It means that no visitors or tourists would be allowed to enter the venue. At the same time, no other weddings or services would take place at the Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in Bath on December 27, 2025.
People who often visit the Bath Abbey called the move by Adam and Holly "selfish" and accused them of prioritising their exclusivity over public sentiment. According to reports by the same outlet, a private security team would be positioned to patrol the venue and prevent any spectator from taking pictures, which has invited more criticism. For those unaware, the cost to rent Bath Abbey is approximately £ 2,500. But since Adam and Holly have booked an all-day event, the price would be much higher. Criticising the arrangement, a local told The Sun:
"Hiring the Abbey for the whole day when the wedding only lasts for an hour and a half seems rather selfish."
Adam and Holly have received more public disapproval because visitors will lose access to one of the UK's most historic churches around the holiday season, when Bath Abbey typically sees a high volume of visitors. However, in response, a spokesperson from Adam countered the criticism by stating that they would be having a "private, family wedding" and provided no further comment.
Apart from the controversy, Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty's relationship has become stronger over time. They reportedly first crossed paths in 2021 when Adam and Holly's sister, Tilly Ramsay with contestants on Strictly Come Dancing. Gradually, they became friends and developed a romantic bond behind the scenes. They first made their relationship public after Holly shared some romantic photos with Adam in June 2023, and they later got engaged a year later. The Olympic swimming star has called himself "the luckiest man," highlighting how he could not wait to spend forever with Holly.
As Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay are excited for their big day, their upcoming fairytale wedding has already been marred by the groom's high-profile family feud. According to several UK outlets, Adam's mother, Caroline Peaty, is not invited to his wedding due to the strained relationship between them. Adam and Caroline's relationship had worsened after she was not invited to Holly's hen party after conflicts within his family. In fact, the cops got involved in the matter when Adam's brother allegedly issued threats to him. Consequently, some family members feel left out, and others have criticized him for distancing himself after becoming part of Holly's high-profile family. However, the soon-to-be bride and groom have maintained silence on the matter, keeping their side of the story to themselves.
