On August 21, 2026, Kunal went up Khawadya Hill, threatening to jump off the cliff amid an argument over his new cell phone.
In a tragic turn of events, both Kunal and his parents fell and died. Amid that, some new details about Murlidhar and Sangita's family life have surfaced, hinting at their strained marriage.
Kunal Chandgude and his parents, Murlidhar and Sangita, recently became victims of unforeseen circumstances that led to their demise. It has generated a nationwide stir, with netizens trying to understand how exactly the tragedy unfolded. Amid that, some unknown details about the late couple's alleged strained relationship surfaced. According to reports, six years before Kunal's death, his elder brother passed away from an undisclosed illness.
Since then, Kunal's parents have reportedly been living separately. The reason for the living arrangement is unknown; however, it hints at immense grief that had strained their relationship. It is also not known if Kunal lived with his mom or dad, or whether the couple later started living together again. Murlidhar and Sangita had gone through a lot before they were blessed with a son, Kunal. As per social media users, they got married when he was 24, and she was 19.
It was difficult for the young couple to navigate their new family life, and on top of that, they even struggled to have a child for several years. According to an X (formerly Twitter) account, @worshipVK, Murlidhar and Sangita even visited Char Dham to pray for a child and were eventually blessed with their baby boy, Kunal. Murlidhar was not very well-off, and he worked as a truck driver to earn his livelihood.
Despite the financial struggles, Murlidhar never let his family's needs go unfulfilled and even got Kunal admitted to a reputed school. There, he came across rich students who owned luxurious items like iPhones and demanded the same from his father. Murlidhar complied with his request and bought him an iPhone on EMI, but he couldn't keep up with the installment payments, which ultimately led to their tragic deaths.
On August 21, 2026, Kunal threw a tantrum because his father failed to pay the EMI for his new iPhone on time. Fearing that his cellphone might be snatched away, the distressed 18-year-old went up Khawadya Hill in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and threatened to jump while standing on the edge of a cliff at around 10:00 a.m. Around 1:00 p.m., Muralidhar slowly approached Kunal to console him and pull him back to safety.
As Kunal fell or jumped, he grabbed his father's hand, and they both lost their footing and fell into a deep stone quarry gorge. The horrific incident took place right in front of Kunal's mother, Sangita's eyes. Overwhelmed by the shock of the death of her husband and child, she also jumped from the cliff just moments later. Thus, in a tragic turn of events, all three family members died on the spot. Following that, local police recovered the bodies, conducted post-mortems, and opened a formal inquiry into the case.
