Shah Rukh Khan has rightly been hailed as the Badshah of Bollywood because of his incredible contributions to the film industry. He has worked over thousands of films to date, and nearly all of them has been nothing short of a classic hit. Be it thrillers, romance or coming of the age films, SRK has nailed every one of them with his exceptional skills. And now, his co-star, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi from the 1994-released film, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa recalls some of her fond anecdotes about working with him.
In a latest interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi recalled her experience of working with Shah Rukh Khan in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. She recalled that since SRK had recently got married back then, his wife, Gauri would often come visit him on the sets and end up having a gala chit chat session with her. Moreover, Suchitra emphasised that SRK would visualise his wife, Gauri in her, as a result his expressions and acting chops would come across so brilliantly. In her words:

“I used to mainly talk to Gauri, I don’t think I spoke much to Shah Rukh. When Shah Rukh was doing Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, wo mujhe nahi dekh rahe the, wo Gauri ko dekh rahe the. Isiliye wo expressions sab itna masoom, itna real tha..it was all so real. So I think he would just look at me and think that he is looking at Gauri because unki nayi nayi shaadi hui thi so yeah that’s what brought out the innocence and that earnestness.”

Going further in the interview, Suchitra also recalled how she had to deal with the slapping scenes in the movie. For the unversed, there is one particular scene in the film where Suchitra’s character slaps SRK’s character after a song sequence. Suchitra revealed that in real life behind the scenes, she was not able to give a proper slap to the actor in the first take, so there were multiple shots to be taken. Moreover, she felt quite sad and started crying for having to slap him so many times. However, she highlighted how SRK bore everything in a very gentlemanly fashion and never said a word. She mentioned:
“It took a lot of takes and I started crying because I had to slap Shah Rukh and it was going take after take and finally I started crying because I couldn’t do it any more. Kundan was particular that it should be real, we didn’t use to do play-acting. And Shah Rukh, being the gentleman that he is, didn’t say anything. But I could see he was going backwards. I mean normal people don’t go and slap other people. Shah Rukh is a pro but I couldn’t do it, I just burst out crying.”
Despite having a bright career ahead, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi could only strike a short career span in Bollywood. In one of her earlier interviews with Pinkvilla, she had opened up on the same and had revealed how she had always undervalued her talents and treated herself very casually. Moreover, she emphasised how it had been her ex-husband, Shekhar Kapur who was partly responsible for curbing her dreams and aspirations in Bollywood, after her marriage.

In her broken marriage with filmmaker, Shekhar Kapur, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi had been blessed with a daughter, Kaveri. Speaking about the latter in one of her earlier interviews, the actress had recalled how her daughter had forcefully enlisted her name into a dating site after her divorce, and had even convinced her to go on some dates. However, she concluded that after doing it for happiness a couple of times, she realised that she was good to be just herself.
